Got a bit of work im gunna be doing this weekend on the car.

Going to be checking my valve lash to start off with. So I had to get a feeler gauge for that.

I painted my spare valve cover which I'll be putting the finishing touches on tonight. Going to put on new gaskets and replace the one thats on my car now.

Got new, colder NGK spark plugs. And a Blox magnetic oil drain plug.

Everything SHOULD be showing up in the mail today. So I'll snap some pictures this evening.

EDIT:: does anyone have any tips on how to tell when cylinder 1 and 4 are TDC? I have the RRM UDP and i dont think it has the timing mark on it... :/

Just rotate your crank clockwise and keep checking the rockers on both sides of 1 and 4 to see when all of them (exhaust and intake) have play. The how to valve lash thread has others explanations of how they did it mainly on pages 3-5. Rotate, then check, then rotate then check...that's what I did last week when i did mine. Then when you find TDC, try to mark it on you UDP so you can find it next time

i look down the spark plug tubes, if you take the plugs out it's also easier to crank the motor by hand cause there's no compression...

Thanks guys!

Doing that valve lash adjustment was crazy. I had no problem with the exhaust side but the intake side was stupid hard to get to. And it seemed like almost all of them were way too tight...

Im still waiting on the new spark plugs to arrive. And I just got a ralliart oil cap put on yesterday!

Painting that valve cover made me want to start painting everything in the engine bay. LOL

@Lanzer yea we have quite a bit space around here. I love it. Makes the curvy back roads home much more fun. lol I hated living in Lexington, KY the city life just aint for me... lol

And I didnt want to make a thread about this. So hopefully someone can help me out here. Ive had three minor but odd things happening in my car that I havent been able to figure out.

1st: Ive had to start waiting for a few second after I turn my key over before I actually try starting the motor. If I do it too soon nothing happens. the starter doesnt even attempt to start the motor or anything. Could my starter be going out?

2nd: My driver door wont lock when I hit the lock button. Sometimes I can hit the lock button two or three times and it will finally lock the door. But Ive mainly been having to lock it manually. Not a big deal just kinda odd that it'd stop working properly out of the blue...

3rd: And most recent. It poured the rain yesterday all day long. And for some reason when I turn my wheel IDK a half revolution or more something begins squeaking inside the cabin. I thought it may have been a wheel but i opened the doors and turned the wheel from the passenger side and it definitely sounds like its inside not outside. Almost like rubber rubbing on something kind of sound. I cant find it anywhere... :/

I think this the locking actuator or something. Same thing in mine except it hasn't worked since I got the car I just never got around to looking deeper into it altough I'm pretty sure there is a thread about it...

LMAO I know the feeling. I work for a bank and Im usually the last one to leave everyday. So come Friday when I am here till 7-8 oclock I get kinda wacky too.

And that's a damn good idea. My grandpa has one somewhere that my dad and uncles use when dirt bike riding. I'll have to borrow it the next time Im down there and go make the run.

Met a guy that lives in my area with an Evo VIII MR. So Im going over to help him do some work on it this evening. Im super stoked!

not a lot of Evo 8/9 in Canada...i plan to add one more in the next couple years...ideally it would be a LHD european VII.

Met the guy with the Evo VIII MR over the weekend. He is going to be buying my Akata wheel spacers. His ride is nice. Its suppose to make like 500 awhp. Apex Silver. His interiror was painted the same way as mine except blue instead of white. JDM bumper, CF spats and skirt extensions, lip and canards on the stock bumper, wing, and VG. really awesome looking CF hood. On a set of dark chrome Enkei RPF-1's. It looks so sick I'm totally jealous of the guy! HAHA!

He had taken the engine apart to work on it and changed the clutch while he was in there. I helped him hook up some of his wiring harness what we could find of it and then some of the vacuum lines. It was kinda difficult because the previous owner did a lot of mods to it and didnt fill in the current owner what they all were. So we had to find out the hard was that the EGR was deleted, the MAF sensor wasn't needed, and there are still a bunch of wires for gauges that we arent sure how they are suppose to be plugged in though... But it was all put back together this weekend and it fired right up yesterday. But apparently there was no clutch... So now he's got to figure out what it causing that.

But yea Crans, there arent many 8/9s around here either. This is the second 8 Ive seen in the area and Ive saw 2 X's around the area as well. And Im like you I'd love to have a VII I think they are gorgeous! Well that or an Evo VI I love the aggressive small style of the old body!

Anywho about my car. Im thinking about taking off the widow vent visor things on my car for a while... Think they would leave stuff on the edges of my doors where they have been on for several years now? And Im probably going to be spending the week cleaning up my car cause we are having a BIG meet this weekend for my friends wedding and the release of Fast and Furious 6!

Well Ive made a few changes to my car over the last couple weeks. I was hoping to have more pictures but plans fell through so I had to make due with these for now. Nothing special really. Just wanted to show off the changes.

Took off the window vent/shade things figured Id try it without them for a while. Also got my eyelids installed. And STM Amber side markers put in.

Here is a shot of my new tail lights. Im loving them so far!

And a random shot of my car at night. LOL It looked kinda nightvision-y.

And another random shot of Cave Run Lake I took while out on the boat yesterday. It was a beautiful day!
