I was considering a Saturn ION before this car, in hte ION 2 and 3 it comes with mp3 player...I think htere's an option to go to 6 disc with it too, but not sure if the 6-disc is mp3...and that car runs about the same price as the RA

What are you talking about? Almost all of my CD's are burnt copies and they ALL play in my stock CD player.

I had no problems playing CD-R's in the stock stereo. I just wanted the ability to play MP3's so I swapped out the head unit with an Alpine, and rewired all the speakers to run off my own amps. I was impressed by the sound before, now i'm floored by the sound.

Chucko, what amps are you running with the sun/sound speakers?

I have an alpine MRV-F400S V-12 series 4 channel and i was going to put in my alpine MRV-T757 V-12 series 2 channel, but it is too much for the infinity sub (need more money to replace it), so i hooked up an old Kicker 2 channel i had laying around. The head unit is an Alpine CDA-9807. It is just a cheap one to get me by for a while. I was in too much of a hurry to put it together before i left for canada that i didn't do as good of a job as i should have. i will have to fix it this weekend. But it sounds great, i just need to tweak the amps a little more.

I have noticed static if i use windows media player, but if you use something like roxio or nero (i use the soundblaster software that came with my THX soundcard) and you won't hear any static. At least that is what I have experienced.
