Would a 12" JL W7 sound good in my Lancer? Does anyone else have this sub(s) in their car? What amp would you suggest I use to power 1 12" JL W7 Sub? I'm getting one for my RalliArt soon and I kinda want to do a custom setup, but I'm not sure if I should or not or where to even go to have it done. I'd like to have it down in my spare tire space facing up looking nice with a custom look.

Well, you need a lot of clean power to push one of those well enuf to make it worth while. For a Lancer 12" is kinda overkill, you could do 1 10" W7 and you'd pound if you power it with a monoblock type 'D' amp. Good amps with killer sound quality at good price are Soundstream amps. Check out their spider series, great for woofers. Look on Froogle.com for best price. Hope that helps. Remember, its all about the power, the only thing that matters in the woofer is its quality.

 

I used to have JL W6's that I used a Lanzar amp to power....Sounded good....I agree that one 10 is more than plenty unless you dont care about sound and just care about volume.

 

I want my **** to pound; I'm talkin knock so loud that when you're 5 cars back you can feel the bass as if the subs were in your car. That's how I want my system to be. I already have great highs, and tweeters, I just want subs that make body kits fall of the car next to me. That's what I'm looking for

 

If you want it to pound loudly, some W7's would be perfect. I was never about the loudness though more about sound quality. If you want some sound quality the W3's are good. Ive got one W3 10" in my TSX. My W6's are definitly louder but not as clear.

 

you can get w6 and up.. but its all about the amp..... recommend only the best names... best brand names.. are best for a reason. get back to you on that. dont get sony tho.. sony is shetty... i dont want to get w6 or any of that at all... adds alot of weight in the back... nice set of Ecplise's are nice and lightweight... and can still bump the hell out of 2 12 audiobhans or fosgates... talk to me. peace.

 

I have a 10 w7 in my lancer (non-ralliart) and it's nice.
I got a crazy deal on an alpine mrd-m1000, it's pushes it nicely.

I use the huge jl audio box for the w7 as well, currently facing the rear and it's still pounding.

 

don't bother spending that much......well if your filthy rich go for it.....but i got two JL 12W3V2's in mine with a 500X1 JL amp.....and believe me when i tell you....its MORE than enough to be heard five blocks back let alone five cars.....and it costs less too......just my 2 pennies....
