RRM Downpipe CEL Update...
My CEL tripped after about 500 miles after I installed my RRM downpipe. It's been on now for about 2,000 miles.
Today I finally reset the ECU and the light has since stayed OFF. Once I put a few hundred miles on it, I'll update this thread. Hopefully this is longterm because I need to get my oil changed at the dealer and I don't want that light attracting attention!

Forget the free oil change - pay $25 bucks somewhere else, or do it yourself. Not worth the risk. My dealer's cool and does most of my installs and I wouldn't risk a downpipe with them.
I fixed my CEL, I took out the bulb. Its pretty easy all you need is phillips head. Its two screws on top of the bezel, then pull out the balck plasic piece surrounding the gauges. Then 3 more screws. Then take out the whole gauge cluster so its over the streering wheel. You dont need to unplug the insterment pannel but you can if you want. Then 4 more screws on the back to take off the brown piece, then you just twist the bulb, its a little black round plastic piece and thats it. NO MORE CEL EVER!

They also check the light itself. When you first turn the car on, the light comes on for a few seconds and then if it goes off if everything is ok. If it never comes on, they'll know something is up...
Thats okay if I ever have to service my car at mitsubishi I would take off my downpipe and put the light bulb back in. I was just saying for me it was annoying I got sick of people giving me crap for having a CEL on a car with 2thousand miles.
pulling the light only turns off the light. It doesn't fix the CEL. Your ECUs are telling the injectors to dump fuel because they think something's wrong- that hurts mileage and performance. You may be getting better performance because you've removed the restrictive cat and the crimpy DP, but there's a lot more to be gained.
I can't imagine the RA ECU is that much different from the other Lancer family ECUs and your CELs will come back. Mine took a thousand miles or so, but did come back on, and it came back on sooner after each battery reset. You need a CEL eliminator (or MIL elim.) Run a search and get the skinny from those of us who've already taken care of this problem for real.

What's to explain? The ECU sees that there's a problem and to protect the engine from leaning out it dumps fuel. I had sh1te mileage when I had the CEL on, and I couldn't tune my eManage at all because the ECU goes "closed loop" (doesn't accept an inputs because it senses danger). My o2 sensor readings were all over the place and the car felt boggy all the time.
please just run a search in the US Lancer formus, you'll get a lot more info.
