RRM LSD (rock or boe help)

I'm seriously thinking of getting the clutch type lsd. Since I don't have a service manual I've been looking at how LSD's are installed. I've seen some older eclipse installs and the tranny needs to be completly removed and all the gears and forks need to be seperated. Is this still the case with the RA? I ask cause my dealer is replacing my tranny and I know they don't have to open it up, replacing old one with a brand spanking new one. I think they'd get pissed or void the new warranty on the tranny if they'd have to split it. Can anyone clear this up or is it the same type of installation for most lSD's. tear the tranny apart?
