Greddy Auto Timer installed

I just finish installing the auto timer (turbo timer) in my RA. I used the HKS harness and it was pure plug and play

This should hold me over until all the fittings and hoses come in for the oil cooler. If I let the car idle after a hard run, the water temp drops 10F and oil temp drops 15F.. so it's all good

and what does this help again? You have a turbo?

my RA is still NA.. no turbo (yet)

my oil temps are really high and i was waiting to install the oil cooler.. this helps for now because it lets the car idle a bit and cool down

I think it's like $100 - $120 USD ($20 ish for the harness, it's not needed but it's nice.. you don't have to cut the stock wiring)

I wouldn't have put it so bluntly :P but yeh the car will cool off just as quickly by turning it off . The reason you'd use them on a turbo charged car is because a turbo spins between 75000-100000 rpm so if you stop the car after bagging on it the oil will coke to the bearings since the turbo runs so much hotter than the engine, so you give it a few extra minutes of idle time. A turbo timer is 100% useless on an NA car unless you're a ricer that likes extra buttons and gizmos.

Ok joe,i`m confused i have a Ralliart as well, and you say you have oil temp problems, hhuummm i have never had any overheating oil or coolant issues with my ralliart, one thing for sure a Turbo timer is not gonna solve your problem, i would have it checked out by the dealer.

without any oil temp or water temp gauges, you won't see your temps, therefore you won't know if you are overheating or not

the car runs fine, mine you.. it's just that I don't like the high temps..

the turbo timer by itself is not going to solve my problems, but before i installed it, i would let the car idle a minute to a minute and a half and the temps drop by 10-20f.. so i think it's doing something.. now i dont' have to sit there waiting for it to finish that's all

Ok. I don't mean for this to sound sarcastic. I'm just looking for some clarification with the purpose of this.
By letting your car idle for a couple minutes you noticed a drop of 10-20f in temp. Well, if the car wasn't running at all I'm sure the temp would drop much faster. Is there a reason why you let it "cool down" if you will before shutting it off?

it's the same principal as the turbo..

the oil gets circulated and cools things down.. and once the oil cooler is in, it will work even better..

if you just shut off the car, the oil stops flowing and you will still end up with a hot spot

It might be the same principle but your engine doesn't have the heat that a turbo does. What are the oil temp and water temps you are seeing?

Okay, I'm going to jump in here for a sec. Correct me if I'm wrong silly, but weren't you having overheating problems because you ran longer "in" mivec for extended periods of highway use? That's why he wanted the timer folks, pure and simple. To my understanding the mivec profile runs hotter all around and some other people have complained of high oil temp for the same reason. He's allready said it isn't the solution, the oil cooler is, this is something to try and minimize the thermal breakdown or at least disipate the heat. It's all about peace of mind. It's not going to hurt anything (except HIS wallet) no matter what. He's just sharing some info about something he did. He never said this was the coolest (no pun intended) thing ever and everyone should run out and buy one. This is a community guys, there's enough hate in the world allready, this is where we go to be among friends!!!

Sorry but I'm not fully up to date on your entire set up. I know you're setting up the oil cooler and running that big az filter. I jsut haven't checked to see if you're running synthetic and what brand? If you're using Mobile 1, you should be okay but not great. 250 really is borderline for oil, and conventional (dino) is breaking (almost completly) down allready. What weight oil are you running? And exactly how hard are you whippping that mule? You might have a blocked oil passage or something, I haven't seen a car run 250F for long if you know what I mean.
