ummmm, right. i don't know what you think takes 20 mins so i'm going to assume you have no idea what i was trying to do.

i guess that's what happens when you only read the last post of a thread.

How helpful...

Anyways, I'm sorry to hear rhyzin that the ECU is bein a *****. I for one definitely appreciate the lengths that you're going through to get this to work. Hopefully the ECU isn't fried...

bad bad ralliart mas!

i'm sure i wired it in right. i just think i may have crossed some terminals when i was checking with a voltmeter. oh well. you guys are on your own for now.

If it makes you feel any better, I let the smoke out of my front ECU a while ago, trying to get the fog lights to be independent of the headlights.

Get your ECU from car-part.com, rather than spend $1200 at a dealer.

What was wrong, and what was your workaround?

i was getting these codes:
p0113 IAT voltage high
p0108 barometric sensor voltage high

AND the car wouldn't start.

usually the car should start even with those OBDII codes, but it wasn't. that usually means fuel pump, fuel pump relay, crank sensor, or cam sensor(there might be more but those are high on my list) are messed up as well.

so first i checked with the manual. i did my checks and when these sensors were backprobed, i got higher than normal voltage readings. the manual says to replace the ecu. well i'm poor right now so i thought i'd think it over first.

i pulled out the wiring diagrams and looked at what were hooked up to these sensors. I FOUND OUT the barometric pressure sensor, IAT sensor, crank sensor, and cam sensor ALL ground to pin 40 internally in the ECU. the ECU has 2 chassis grounds. that pretty much means if something grounds to the ecu, they'll pass through one of these two pins. i checked for resistance between pin 40 and these two ground pins. no dice.

so i took pin 40 out of the harness and hooked it up to a wire that i grounded to the chassis. BINGBANGBOOM the car starts. no codes, no problems, and seems to even gotten rid of a weird TPS bug i had.

so far a happy ending. gonna go give it a drive soon. i'll eventually replace the ecu, but not anytime soon.

Nobody is going to believe you unless you share how you got it to work, and people are able to replicate the success.

well i went down to Boe's house in Hemet and he installed it since i have no clue about electrical -lol- It took about two hours to do. we did all the trial an error stuff. it scared me at frist cuz im trusting this guy that i met on the forums for the first time to tamper with my ECU. he first did it and the car just wouldnt turn over.... then he used some other sensor that made the car turn over for just like 2 sec then die.... then another where it started but it just sputtered like hell, then finally he started it up and it just ran.. it was awesome! U guys should talk to boe. i asked Rock about him installing the AFC but he also routed me to Boe. I can not tell any of you how to install and im sorry for that, but im just the driver and Boe is the person who deserves all the credit. I dunno if vids are good enough for u guys but im sure Arithmetic can get some vids of it up and running to show that i do have one installed and its actually working and maybe of pics of where to connect all this to the ecu? i dunno if that will help you.....
