AEM CAI question

OK... so i know AEM makes a CAI for manual transmission ralliarts. And from what I've heard on these boards, they probably make the best one out there so far. My question is, do they have one out yet for our cars that comes with a bypass valve? I need to knwo this b/c i want an AEM intake but i get tons of rain here in Illinois and def need the bypass valve. If so, where can i get this?? Thanks

I bought the Injen CAI (have yet to install it), but still bought the 2.75" AEM Bypass valve. I know that others on here also have the Injen with the bypass valve. As for brands, be it Injen, AEM or RRM you should see just about the same results performance wise. I did hear that the Injen was the one that made the nicest and most noticeable sound when it sucked in air, so thats what made my decision for me.

how much for the AEM Bypass valve alone? I'd be interested in doing the same thing as you as Injen intakes are cheaper anyway. I'm guessing it was simple to add the aem bypass valve to the injen CAI...????

The Injen CAI is awesome if you live somewhere where it gets really cold/wet. You can convert it to a SRI. The AEM Bypass valve set me back 75 CAD$ and it hooks up perfectly where the Injen intake SRI portion finishes off. Then you just need to hook up the rest of the CAI to the bypass valve and ur done. Very easy!

Just wonderinf if thats the same with the AEM intake system, Im guessing it would be because the location of where you put the bypass valve

you can use a bypass valve with the AEM since AEM does make the bypass valve, and it is a 2 piece CAI. It can also be converted to a SRI.

The bypass only works when the filter is submerged i thought. I have an AEM CAI and live in the northwest and have not had any problems in the rain.

Okay...the comment about one intake sounding better than another is BS...they are all basically the same, I don't care how big your sack is.
As for the AEM intake, yes it is 2 piece, and YES the bypass valve will work with it. The directions tell you exactly how much pipe you have to cut (yes, you have to cut some of the pipe to make it fit properly).
As for the AEM bypass fitting the Injen intake....it works. Otter has one on his Injen intake. He could tell you more about how easy/hard install was.
You can chek out pics of my AEM here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=146868

What about the actual filters than come with the Injen and AEM CAIs? Are they the same size? And are they both closed off at the tip?

I ask because (if I remember correctly) on my old 3G Eclipse, they were different sizes.

Well I finished the CAI install and wow, it sounds almost like a turbo at some points, just 1 question tho, when I put the filter on it was very close to the front bumper. anyone else notice that?
