Quote: The intake and exhaust valve springs in the 4G69 are unique to that engine and don't cross reference with any other engines. The internals are very strong and can handle 10-15psi of boost on stock internals, I believe.
has anyone found this to be absolutly, positivly true yet? about our stock internals being able to handle between 10-15 psi of boost? , cause if so that would be sweet !

Those boost figures for the stock internals were posted somewhere by one of the PR guys if I remember correctly.

I now it can handle 12psi pump gas and probably 14psi race gas with proper tunning and I wont call it pushing it..! My brothers Ralliart runs 11psi daily and has 40K miles on it. The only thing holding him from pushing more boost is the stock clutch, he never seem to find time to replace it..

PR guys are absolute geniuses and I wouldnt be surprised if some of you guys were able to tune it perfect and run higher boost than anyone imagined on the stockies

so really the only weak link on the internals of this car is the valve springs and pistons if you are wanting to add boost... so how hard or time consuming would it be to change the pistons...

I know tommorrow when RPW put my car on the dyno we will be looking at seeing how high we can run the boost on this car... so we should be able to come back with proven dyno sheets and results but the list of parts is correct... looks like we RA people have a lot more in common with the EVO 9 engine than was first thought apart from the pistons which can mean one thing alot of fun times ahead

I think valve springs are OK. Turbotech made over 500whp on the stockers and he ran over 7500Rpms

i really dont think malvin had the stock springs on... maybe when he hit 412hp but not the 500+ setup....

still to be able to get 412hp on stock springs is very impressive - not too sure if I would be that keen to have that sort of power however... but that is very interesting

Quote: I had some free time today and decided to do some research. I've come up with the following:

4G69 uses 4G63 rod and crank bearings (old news)
4G69 uses 4G64, 4G94 valve guides and seals
4G69 uses the EVO timing belt tensioner which is aluminum, not cast iron
4G69 intake valve = 34mm (4G63 EVO = 34mm) May fit?
4G69 exhaust valve = 30.55mm (4G63 EVO = 30.5mm) May fit?
4G69 uses 4G64, 4G94 valve spring retainers
4G69 uses 4G63, 4G64 head bolts (can use 4G63 ARP head studs )
4G69 uses 4G63, 4G64 main bolts (can use 4G63 ARP main studs )
4G69 uses 4G63 EVO balance shafts (can use 4G63 EVO BS eliminator kit )

Nothing spectacular, I know. Every little bit helps though. Here's a good read on how Mitsubishi took a 4G64, modified it and called it a 4G69: Article. Lightened rods, lightened crank, lightened crank pulley, larger valves, shorter block height and other goodies. They did a very nice job and came out with a very nice engine.
hey senate thanks for the info me and the rest of the 4g69 guys on some of the gen 4 eclipse forums have been looking for info like this... but just have one question, where would I be able to get upgraded valve springs???

So really all your saying is it i want to build my 4g69 all i would need a 4g69 spercific Cam shaft, crank and pistons. the rest i could use 4g63 stuff

Also just another question, take for example the honda boys using k24 block and a k20 head. would we be able to do the same? 4g69 block and a 4g63 head? using the 2.4L displacment and getting the legendary flowing capablity of a 4g63 head and 2 cams?

the water journals will be were you may come unstuck - as far as swapping heads over... but I am guessing it is a case of getting hold of two gaskets and making comparrisons between the two....
