PICS of WORN stock clutch

Hey,

I just took pics of my crooked stock clutch. As you can see the friction disk is in pretty good shape. What you can't see is that the spring rattle somewhat (hard launches\auto-x). You can clearly see how the throw out bearing wore out only half of the diaphragm spring fingers as the cover was bent or misaligned. Take a look at the pressure plate and you'll notice a a half moon ring on the edge. This is where the disk would make contact first as is was out of line. You can see how this small discrepency can wear clutch parts easily.

I read your thread before where you spoke of the car jerking when you were taking off and how the new clutch resolved this problem.

Were there any other symptoms you had of a bad clutch? Any trouble selecting gears from time to time?

the big light bulb that made me wonder was that a friend of mine drove the car and said that the clutch engaged really high. I though it was worn out, so I adjusted the bolt in the back of the pedal and the engagement was not at the bottom of the stroke like we want, but it only came back to about half way. I guess cause the spring might be sloppy and would not push the pedal back to the top.

I'm having the same problems right now. Looks like new clutch is in my immediate future... I'm debating getting the LSD and having them installed at the same time.

Do you have any idea approximately what I will have to pay to have them both installed?

clutch install is 8 hours, full tear down and install of lsd, migh be an other 6 hours. I looked arround an the cheapest shop I found was 60 bucks per hour. Make sure they have experience in installing LSDs' cause there are spacers needed and certain tolerances that have to be met in order for everything to work properly with the bearing set. Call RRM for better details of shims and spacers needed. ITs possible the LSD install might just drop in. But, I've never heard it to be that way. Next time I have to get someone to go dig in there, a new light flywheel and an LSD is in order.

big 7k rpm launches only result in a 1 wheel smokie for us, unlike you with a monster leap forward and the smell of a burnt clutch. I only wish I could launch an EVO, let alone drive one.
