Im guessing the weight difference b/w the engines is going to be around 100lbs like lanzerralliart stated. Also you could Relocate the battery to rear (15/20 lbs.), remove the saftey crash rollers from the front support (-12.5 lbs). Go with a carbon fiber hood. This rest of the weight could benefit for FWD traction. Also this http://club4g.org/board/4g-eclipse-g...ator-view.html

I'm going to look into the weights again , the thing is it's an option for the eclipse from the factory. Easier to bolt in , ours not so much although similar. I think a 4g63 swap would be more effective especially in the long term ad there is a huge market for the 4g63 vs the 6g72. IMO

first off props to whoever got it done...seems like it would def be awesome to do, and def unique....but seems somewhat impractical...

way too much work for the end result...dont get me wrong i think its awesome somebody tried it and put themselves(or several themselves) into it, and got it done and running, but it seems like unless its a show car or a "look what i can do!" car, ud be much better off spending way less $ and time just putting in a turbo or supercharger(if the 1 kit ive seen is still around), get about the same power..or do an evo engine swap(like whoever in this forum did forever ago)...then ud have almost the same power, probably less weight and even have the space, money and place for an awd system so then u can put that lancer in your rearview...

not to be a dick, but IMHO theres many more things you can do w/ the time and $ that went into that one car
again...its awesome, props to whoever did it, great skills tuning it and all the work spent fitting it all in there in a stock looking way(from what i see in the vid)...hope u enjoy it till it goes boom...then fix it and enjoy it again! good job!

All motor no mods? If so, those are some pretty solid numbers.

I drove past the local dealership a few days ago wondering what a swap like that would be like... and there you have it

I would never do it though haha. Not unless something happened and I really wanted to keep the RA. Would probably go turbo/supercharged before a 3.8 swap.

Major props to the guys that did it

Just saw that video. That is totally awesome! And if those numbers are correct thats pretty solid. I'd like to know how much time, effort, and $$ went into that swap. But either way its still impressive. Looks nice in the bay too!

Those numbers are dynojet #s so they are a little high but still respectable. I've been a member of club4g for a while. They have pulled low 12s with nitrous and over 450ft/tq on stock internals. So an 11 second Ralliart would be nice (I say 11s because the ra is 200+ pounds lighter than the eclipse and truly making me consider this

But it's becoming a trend.....

mmmm love that and the fact that this is cheaper and has more power than a turbo kit is all that better

a turbo kit doesn't provide "x amount of power" you can make far more power with a turbo, than any N/A 6 cyl. guys running approx. 8psi are making in the range of 250hp...8 pounds is child's play...i know guys than run 30psi through their daily driver...

That engine looks good in the ralliart! Also, I like the idea of 250 hp on 87 octane (look at the price difference).

Edit: after reading the entire 7 page discussion on the Eclipse swap, I saw that the 6g75 takes premium fuel. Likely could still run 87 or 89 octane and let the knock sensors pull some timing.

While I agree I also have to play devils advocate. The turbo can get more hp but it all depends on your goals. There's no need to have a 400whp fwd turbo car to drive 60 miles a day to work and back. The n/a 6 is just that and "there's no replacement for displacement". Either way if your not serious and have 5k minimum for either way then it's all talk anyway. Around 300whp can be had with bolt ons and a tune with the 6. That is enough for the Ralliart , much more and it will lose its daily driving ability. I like , love, use, and abuse nitrous but for me , how I drive, I have always liked the car to have speed and handling neither astronomical but evenly balanced for usability ,yet always have that ace(nitrous) in my back pocket. IMO

Yeah I already put 93 for the reflash so that wouldn't be an issue. The smaller tank size in comparison with the eclipse might have an effect on distance driving they have about 5 gallons more fuel capacity than us. I would love to blow by a gt eclipse though ,on a personal note.
