bought a new '05 RA last march..has 17k on it..no problems until the other day my gear shift popped out of 3rd..it vibrated then pop..went out...no 3rd gear now..u can shift it into 3rd position but car just coasts..it is at the dealer now..still under warrenty etc..it will get fixed..they said they hadn't had any problems like that before..nothing else appeared wrong..linkages etc looked good..all other gears worked fine etc..anyway..anyone else had a trans problem similar to this?...i wasn't ******* it out etc..just lost the gear..weird....also ordered the vortex generator air deflector thing..the one evo's have..i think it will look cool..has anyone put one of those on their RA?..don't want to be accused of being an evo poser u know

 

bad luck man, that sounds odd think to happen, keep us updated with how/why if u find out.

yeah i was thinking a vortex gen aswell, but i think ive spent too much on cosmetic mods so far, now all my cash is going into performance

yea VG and shorty antenna. Looks good. I seriously want to put the evo wing but wont do that till i get some bolt-ons to make the ralliart faster

 

i get my RA back tomorrow..the mechanic showed me the problem..my 3rd gear discs seperated..must have been metal fatigue or something..everything else was ok..just a rare thing but can happen to moving parts etc...got my vortex gen and air deflector..both cool..the vg slips right over antennae and just sticks on with the 2 sided tape..cost 200.00..but looks cool...they make honeycomb mesh grille inserts for the ra but they're 235.00!!!..for plastic inserts..hahaha..i'll keep my stock ones thanks i said.

 

Sounds like bad luck to me. Have not seen too many RA trannies go up in smoke yet.

You can get accolade grills for around $40. And you could've gotten a paint-matched VG from rexpeed for $89 shipped. Is it too late to return your OEM one?

 

I managed to blow an RSX engine, an auto, at 6300RPM. Well before the 6700RPM redline and the dealer knew it couldn't have been me, how the hell do you over-rev an auto? Just a defective valve that broke and took out one of the pistons.

 

i'm happy to say i've beat my car up and she is still running strong. 22K miles no problem

exactly!. i dont plan on doing anything cosmetic. just build the engine and thats all u need.the only thing that i would want is the short antena. and i actualy want to remove my stock spoiler. spoilerless looks sweet
