RPM's stuck at 3200?

I did a hard drive lastnight on a hour or so trip and I was doing about 120-160k the whole time and when I got into traffic after the highway my car idoled at between 3k and 4k when stoped or in nutral. My engin was hot but my temp gauge stayed ok, I was a little freaked out but after a few hours when I got back to the car everything seemed fine, Should I be worried and should I have that checked? oh yeah I also did my 72k inspection and oil change a week back would that have anything to do with it too. Thanks

No CEL? Make sure your throttle cable doesn't stick, too.

I get it too whenever I am stuck in slow moving traffic. Possibly to do with the heat coming off the engine onto the throttle cable, because there is little air to cool it , and the prolonged heat with no cooling is often enough to cause it to do that I've found.

its funny you said that about the heat seeing as it has never happened to me before and when i got my car serviced my buddy who did the work took off the heat shield so it sounds like thats what it is. So it looks like the heat shield isgoing back on! thanks for the responces

I have that problem a lot, I'll run the car hard or just on normal driving. Then when i roll up to a light and drop into neutral i'm at about 2200 RPM's and it sits there for a while until i come to a COMPLETE stop.. i figured it was just something normal cause it happens to my car all the time...

I have the same problem, I was thinking it was the MAS. That heat thing sounds like it might have something to do with it.
