rrm downpipe... can you weld a typical CAT into it?
It wasn't all that loud around you either, it just had that "I'm running straight pipes on a 4-banger" sound when you really go on it. to be honest, the sound is the only reason I bought name brand mufflers this time. I had no question that the ebay muffler would hold up, but it sounded like **** all day long, and doubtfully would sound much better with the turbo on
ok guys i took the car and dp and magnaflow cat to a friend whos a mechanic...
now he thinks its hard to weld the cat directly on the rrm dp because the rrm dp seems to be smaller than 2.25inches...(which i dont understand why)...
so if he decides to weld it onto my stock midpipe section,.,,(before the resonator)..than another concern will be the second 02 sensor.... because it will be cut off and have no place to be inserted ....
i didnt know installing the dp was such a big job...
any pics or thoughts guys?

there are multiple versions of the downpipe. the problem is the bend and flange. if you open your mind and think about it you don't have to fit the cat into the DP, but the cat into the entire exhaust. wrap your head around that concept and you realize you need to take a little out of the midpipe to move the flange and sensor, and if your mechanic buddy didn't tell you this I would be just a little more critical of his work. just a little though, because meineke told me it wouldn't fit either. bunch of closed minded people in this world. you don't even have to mess with the second o2 sensor, take your length out from somewhere else.

just to make it clear in case someone actually presses that seldom used button up there^^^
the RRM DP will need to be longer than the stock DP to fit a cat. to make the DP longer you need to make the midpipe or header shorter. which makes the most sense? the midpipe. you have enough cable on the sensors to move them in either direction damn near a foot, so cutting six inches or so out of the midpipe and cutting a length out of the downpipe to fit the cat should be real quick; weld in three spots and only make four cuts total.

i have no clue to what you are writing.... i cant visualize it!
then you can't fit the HFC in it. and what were you talking about moving the o2 sensor for then, you can't go back to stock if you have removed an o2 sensor...
I guess I will have to paint you a picture then, huh?
