This happens when a 4g69 tries to compress water...
Freeze plugs have nothing to do with water getting into the combustion chamber of an engine... In theory freeze plugs will release themselves from the block if the block ever freezes. They are installed into the water jackets only... Now every time I had an engine freeze, the plugs never did squat, and I have cracked intake manifolds and heads before... But thats mostly because Im dumb and leave projects out all winter with no 50/50 mix in em...
honestly though, thats brutal. im keeping my stock intake on forever! i drove through a friggin river the other day. well, i should say i hydroplaned through a river. we never get alot of rain around here, but driving into the city one night there were two roads taht looked like they had puddles on them, turns out they were up to my axels deep. couldnt really avoid them, it spanned the hole width of the road. thats why i dont like CAIs. for the amount of benefit, its not worth a potential CEL or even a catastrophic failure IMO.

I had driven through water as high as to cover 4/5ths of my wheels. It had been a day after raining but apparently I ran through a really low area in my city (now that I know). I should've stopped by on the side of the road but even the areas on the side of the road were flooded, and I was really late to work. I have the Buschur cone kit which amazingly did not cause me to stall. I'm was very lucky.
Nothing to do with the oil changes. I've always changed my oil every 3k miles and when I took the pistons out today , the rings looked exactly like that. In my case I took the engine apart today and it seems that since the water had spent 2 days in the engine it just coroded the rings.
