not my car but thought I would post this up to remind everyone that sucking up water with a CAI isn't a good thing.

I've come pretty damn close. My engine did suck in water, not enough to hydrolock, but enough to stall it and took me about 10 minutes of cranking to get it all out and started again. I had to drive through what should've been a shallow puddle, but it seems the puddle was hiding a rather deep pothole, which my left front tire went into. That was enough to do it.
on my last car my mechanic installed a sock type product over my cold air intake, it was made specifacally for my K&N air intake whenever you mount it low in the car,
it lets air in but not water.

you have an intercooler
we don't (well, most of us)
has to surround the filter, seems to me that I remember hearing in the news you should never drive through water assuming it's shallow enough to traverse. potholes like otter suggested are one thing, but it should be pretty easy to tell if the water is going to be deep or not.

I just don't get how people do it ? I drove through some of the worst rains we have had with my CAI.
