R4 software and vista

Im wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me with the R4 software for the RRM piggyback and trying to connect to it using a laptop with windows vista, each time i try to connect the pop up says attempting to connect then maybe 20 seconds later it says windows had a problem with the program and has to close it, is there a trick to it or does it just not work with Vista?

I'm not on a Vista computer, so I'll try my best.

If you right click the program and go to properties (I think,) there should be a tab called "Compatibility." I think you have to check a box then you can set it to Window's XP.

It's worked for me on a few different programs that weren't getting along with Vista.

^ well, -if- you have a copy of windows xp laying around, you can download Microsoft Virtual PC off of their website, and install windows XP onto the host operating system.

To learn more about Virtual PC, click here.

You can really install any windows OS onto the host operating system if you choose. In fact, I have windows 3.1 for workgroups set up as well haha.

well if u have windows 7, do this:

If you right click the program and go to properties (I think,) there should be a tab called "Compatibility." I think you have to check a box then you can set it to Window's XP.
But instead of Windows XP mode, try selecting Windows Vista.

yeah i am having the same problem in vista with the software. one thing you have to do also is select the COM port for your computer to match the one in the software if you are using a usb to serial cable. But ive never tried the compatability mode either so guess what im doing tomro! haha heres the link for the whole com port setting for any noobs like me lol jk
