Help!

So I dont know how many of you have experience with AT RAs however I'm having a problem with the engine installation into my engine bay.

Here is a picture of my torque convertor

We believe that it may not be in all the way into the housing but we're not completely sure. Would anyone be able to tell me if its supposed to go farther? We're having trouble pushing it in more.

Other than that engine is completely back together an just needs to be put into the car

Here is a picture of the back of the engine where the crank is

Can someone tell me whether or not they believe that it's sticking out too far? That was also another possibility we were considering as to why the engine wont fit in...

Does anyone know if there are slight variations between an automatic crank vs a manual? we're thinking the manual might be longer....

as of tomorrow it will have been officially 2 months that the car has been down. the problem has still be unresolved as to the crank/trans fitting together

luckily the only thing thats been added to the engine was the rrm camshaft which fits like a glove into the car.

QUESTION: There's a sensor on the back of the engine (DIRECT CENTER) that had a wire sticking out of it that connected to some plug. What is that? I kind of ripped the wires apart when attempting to pull the engine out and probably need to buy a new one. I thought i read somewhere it was the oil pressure sending unit but I heard that was the other one that was more towards the transmission side so i wasnt completely sure.

Unfortunately this is a common problem. I've seen more than one engine expire with that problem. For your TC, did your crank come from an AT or an MT car? I vaguely remember there is some difference between the two.

When is your next chance to go to the junkyard? I'm sure that if the crank you got from the MT is the problem, then the car at the yard is your best friend.

The crank for a MT and AT are the same. I just replaced my original AT engine with an engine that was originally mated to a MT. The issue lies in the transmission, I'm sure of it. All the problems I had with the R&R started and ended with the transmission.

Yikes. I hardly ever speed so I'm not that worried, but I do realize parts fail due to wear and tear. Should we be getting the oil pump serviced or replaced? Is that in the manual?

probably should get it looked at but they usually go out around this mileage to my understanding. in my case i dont think hitting the governor for a good few miles did my car any good as well lol
