I think the butterfly valve is supposed to be at a slight angle. Make sure you clean out the new TB good before you put it on.

Ok thanks man, I pushed on it and it has all the pressure from the spring on the valve and it goes back to the same spot each time but its angled so I wasnt sure if that was normal. Any recommendations on what to clean it with? And do I just clean the inside of the inlet/outlet and the butterfly valve?

There is suppose to be a slight gap on the butterfly plate and the throttle body, however, you probably should find the tolerance and make sure it's within that tolerance, I am not sure what that should be, I think on my Weber 48mm IDA's it was like .0005" or something, then again, that was a carb.

Make sure it moves freely and the shaft on the butterlfy isn't bent, chances are, it's fine.

Also, based on the steps from AllDataDiy.com you should do the following after installation.

To initialize the ETV, turn the ignition switch to the ON position (do not start engine), then turn it off. Keep it off for at least 10 seconds before starting the engine.

Does it matter what year Galant or Eclipse GT you get the TB from?

2003–present Mitsubishi Pajero (aka Montero/Shogun)
2004–present Mitsubishi Endeavor
2004–2009 Mitsubishi Galant
2006–present Mitsubishi Eclipse
2005–2008 Mitsubishi 380

Pulled this from a different thread, the 2006+ eclipse gt and the galant ralliart is 65mm. The others are 63mm, and stock is 60mm.

I went with the Endeavor one, got it on car-parts.com for $60. The butterfly valve moves all the way open smoothly, i was just making sure it was working because it was open a bit, but seems like it is suppose to be like that.

What should I use to clean it before putting it on? And, is there a way to do the coolant bypass without losing the coolant all over?

When i did the coolant bypass i just kept the hoses facing up to keep coolant from pouring out. But there shouldn't be a lot coming out.

Coolant Bypass is useless and plus you living in Wisconsin you should not do it. Unless you want a sticking butterfly valvle. Coolant serves the purpose of heating up the TB so ice doesn't form inside of it.

Unless you are able to separate the intake manifold from the engine block via thermal gasket you won't get any benefit.

Alright, got the Endeavor Throttle body on today and I just hooked up the coolant lines to the new TB. The swap was super easy, just a pain in the a** trying to get the metal hose clamps squeezed to slide down the hose to pull the hoses off. I have huge hands and it sucked lol. If you have a friend with hands like the guy in the BK commerical deffinately take advantage of that.

After I put it on, I took it out of storage to take it for a test. WOW, best mod I've done so far. Feels awesome and sounds AWESOME! Can't wait til its warmer and I can put on my UDP and burn up the 87 gas and fill up with 89 for my Timing box

when getting the throttle body off the endeavor is it necessary to put on a new gasket between the TB and intake manifold? If so what type of gasket would be a good upgrade and where would i get one?
