I switched to the Odyssey Mini Battery probably 6 months ago. I was kind of afraid that the winter months would be hard on it but I needed a battery so I put it in anyway. Well its stayed strong up till now. I went to start it this morning and it cranked really slow. Well this afternoon after work I went to start it and it would barely turn but it never fired... So lucky for me the parking lot we use for work is right next to a garage. I ran over and asked one of the guys for a jump and he did.

Well I got it home and tried to start it again and it was fine. After about two hours I went back to it and it just barely started again... So Im guessing the battery is on its way out cause its losing charge. So Im debating on whether or not if it is going out on either ordering a new mini battery or just getting an Optima Yellow top and putting it in the trunk...

:-/
Ok so the battery was dead again this morning. Decided to go ahead and get a Optima battery and eventually relocate it to the trunk. Anyone know if the Yellow or Red top would be better for this setup? Im thinking the Yellow top. Just wanted some reinforcement I guess.

Also when I go to do the trunk relocate there is that red piece on the positive terminal in the front. Looks like a few wires go to it and it has a fuse in it. Should I relocate that with the battery, work around it, or cut it out??

I'm on my 2nd yellow top, the first one died on me within 3 months of the warranty ending, so I got a new one free of charge a $250+ dollar value. That was a good day lol.

So do you think the yellow top would do good back in the trunk? Or would the extra cranking power of the red top be better way back there?

I feel confident in the yellow top , I too want to put it in the trunk. I just have to get it done and motivation seems to be lacking after these doubles and coming home to 3 kids

Ok. Ive been digging all day and finally found my answer. If your car is stock and all you do is turn the engine and drive them you get the red. If your car has a stereo system, has added electronics anything that uses extra charge for any amount of time the Yellow top is what you'll want.

So Im going with the Yellow. I dont have a super stereo system in my car yet but I was wanting to add a 500w sub down the road so maybe the yellow will save me a headache down the road.

Now its time to start looking into trunk relocation again. I still havent found a guide that mentions what in the world they did with the red connector in the engine bay... :-/

Yeah I had 2 15" subs when I got my original yellow top. Checkout the evo how to section, I'm positive there are a few threads on the battery relocation.

got the yellow top in. fired up like a champ. I may have picked up the wrong battery tie down this morning cause my brother had his off the eclipse a while back too. but this battery seems shorter than a normal one. my tie down wouldnt tighten up on it cause the threads werent long enough. Ah well I got it rigged in there for now. It just has to make the trip home. lol

Just placed my order for a Taylor battery relocation kit from Summit Racing. Should be here by Friday.

Noticed something else the last few days. Whenever my car is shifting from 3rd to 4th it feels almost like there is some hesitation in the shift. Kinda feels like pushing in the clutch to shift without letting off on the gas, RPMs keep raising for a split second then it will shift. Its not as smooth as it was. Im hoping this is just the ATF needing changed. Hopefully I'll be able to do that soon. Weather is suppose to start getting better around here... lol Im not holding my breath though. haha

i would say you're clutch is slipping, but you don't have one...maybe the clutch pack is slipping...are the bands adjustable on those trannies?

Im not sure I can look over the Manual again to see if I can find anything. Im starting to think it is the entire range of gears not just that one, cause its even taking longer to go into Drive from Park or Neutral. I got my fingers crossed that its just needing the ATF changed though.

Ordered my Battery Relocate kit yesterday. Estimated shipping was Thursday or Friday. I got it today!

I went ahead and put the box in the rear. But I need to find a decent sized hole in the fire wall to run this massive cable. Im not sure if I will have length for it to zig zag through the cabin then into engine bay. So are there any holes on the passenger side. Figured I'd ask, I'll be digging around to see what I can find.

passenger side firewall, near the top, near the fender, a bit difficult to spot, if I recall it is a rubber plug that can be knocked out. Can also access from inside the car. I ran the oil temp sensor wires from the oil filter to inside the car thru this hole.

Hey I pulled out my glove box on my lunch break to try to get a look at the hole you were talking about RalliartN and I snapped a few pictures just to make sure I was looking at the right thing.

Sorry for the Crappy Cell pics... lol

Its a lot more cramped behind the glove box than I had imagined. lol

Here is what I think your talking about...

Then I snapped a few pictures from the engine bay to see if this was the right spot from this side.

So is that the same spot your talking about? I hope this massive 1 gauge wire will fit through there... lol
