i wonder if getting rid of the stock rubber elbow and replacing it with an actual intake (metal) would have much difference in sound. My mind is just going crazy with random thoughts and ideas lol

i just bought and installed my aem cai and the sound is fenominal but the fact that at 6k rpms it sounds like the motor is going to pop is a negative. I "upgraded" from an injen short ram yea i lost torque but it seems to pick up a little quicker. i dont notice the "growl" you are talking about when mivec engages maybe i need to go for more runs. I really dont like the having to shift at 6k i like 6500 to be the limit but i guess it will do.

the motor won't pop, and the SRI makes a pronounced sucking/whistling sound at high rpm, you need a longer pipe to get the gnarly growl...

with my fabbed up short ram, i never liked getting close to the redline because i didnt like how it sounded, but with the longer pipe and the filter under the battery, it sounded sweet close to the red line. idk, might just be me though. sri or cai, i tihnk we have some pretty good sounding motors! lol

Grey PVC sewer pipe 2.5" or 3" diameter is perfect for impressing the ladies. Change to mini-battery or get the battery-to-trunk relocation kit for under $90 from RTMracing (Hamilton, ON) to make room for the pipe. Yes your ride deserves shiny chrome intake bling but then you won't look like the mad genius you are.

trenton huh... that's sorta ghey. lol i'm not in a bind, i just have an intake coming and would like to eliminate the rubber/plastic elbow with an alluminum peice. no big deal. i can find something somewhere around here.
really.....lol. Did you happen to look at the 1/8 mile and trap speeds? lol. He obviously drove better on that run. There is no noticeable difference in power in his timeslip. Results are inconclusive at best. Although in theory it "should" be better.

those two slips were from the same day...i was consistently running 15.5's that day, where previously i was running in the 15.7-15.8 range under similar conditions...each night i got about 15 passes, so i know my average was lower. later that season when the air temp was cooler, i ran a 15.3 with the cold air setup, and was able to trap my best mph at 91...where previously my fastest was 89, same tune, same shift points, consistent launches...there was a slight power increase...not noticeable by the butt dynno, but showed improvement on the 1320...

That is a really nice setup, I have the same SRI I was thinking about going CAI soon but don't want to shell out another 250$ for it. I was thinking of using the bendable exhaust piping. Anyone think that it would be bad to attempt this?

the crinkly texture will likely affect airflow, i imagine it would cause major turbulance...

It's a possibility, but isn't the stock piping (if you could call it that) crinkled? I'm not dead set on doing it, just throwing an idea out there.

it's short, and the air is metered before it, but i don't if it would make a difference, plus it might look kinda ghetto...
