ignition problems

I'm getting no fire at my coil packs. I had drove around all day no probs till I got ready to go home and if simply wouldn't start. Started checking things and my coil packs don't fire. What do I need to do to get to the bottom of this?

any codes?

check that there aren't any sensors unplugged...there's a few sensors that if not connected will not allow the engine to start, but how the ECU prevents ignition, be it spark or fuel, i don't know...

Ignition fuse by your left knee on the driver side behind the coin tray. It pops a lot if not there check the underwood fuses if everything is still good..... Probably the dreaded crank position sensor or can angle sensor, let's hope it's one of those 2 fuses

i got a code reader from a friend and it pulled a p0340 and said camshaft sensor. Does anyone know how to test the sensor itself. It makes sense because my turbo has been leaking oil from the seals inside and I have allowed the oil to be low at times. I know lack of oil on the cam sensor can induce failure.

I read somewhere that the crank shaft poistion sensor is actullt yhe cause of that code. I cam shaft sensor with a.voltage meter and screwdriver and it was getting a read I assume due to voltage chqnges when the.screwdriver passed it. I not sure what to trust

do you have the book? trouble shooting this code requires a fair bit...step 1 involves an oscilloscope...

I've tried to find a repair manual with no luck. i checked for TDC cuz I recently changed my timing belt and all that comes with it. it seems that jumped timing. I got that straightened out and im getting fire but it still won't crank. I'm gonna do a compression test but I don't know the specs. what should the compression be?

If that is the code the sensor is done. If ecu does not know know where the cam is it cant fire the coils.

yeah, unless you have all the equipment to analyze electrical/electronic signals, it's pretty much remove and replace...

straight from "the book":

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely
causes for this code to be set are: )
• Camshaft position sensor failed.
• Open or shorted camshaft position sensor circuit,
or harness damage, or connector damage.
• ECM failed. <M/T>
• PCM failed. <A/T>

pour some oil into the cylinder and retest...this will tell you if it's valves or not...
