Seems like redline mtl is the only constant here no one has a problem with and works in all conditions. Probably just gonna switch to that and cross my fingers. No ones really tried bg2 in the cold yet, and I don't got the spare money to try it. Ima just stick with this amsoil for a week or two more and then switch out if its still giving me problems.

all im goona add is, drive it carfully if it wont let u into a gear dont force it at all, just clutch and shift again until the sycnhro stops blocking you regardless of how annoyed you get from it.

Just to get this right, this is the correct fluid?

http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=45&pcid=7

Also is this all I need? No cocktail right? Just this straight is good in all temperatures?

I run BG2 in sub zero temps and the tranny shifts like butter. It is a great cold transmission fluid. I also ran it during the summer in over 100 degree temps and everything seemed fine. I think Otter ran it in his Ralliart in Michigan and never had any problems. In fact I think the transmission in Smike's ralliart is still original with over 200k.

(i put in mobil 1 75-90 in the trans about 3 yrs ago...haven't changed it since...will once i fix the trans, to bg synchro shift...)

i ended up just putting it in neutral and w/ ebrake on (sittign there) idling ~2kRPM till the gauge actually got to go over "C" on the temp gauge(~7 mins)...then i went thru the gears a few times while sitting there w/ the clutch held down...felt ok...so i figrued it was ok to drive...but everytime i coasted it sounded like a rodknock...:S

can't wait till i get my trans rebuild done...(with TOB also...and clutch)...hopefully a lot of these noises will go away...i know cold will bring some back...but not this loud...(it shouldn't be not knocking in the trans anymore...the IS and TOB bearings are toast already)...
amen to that brother..i've been trying to save up since summer 2012 to rebuild my trans but it's hard when you gotta pay for so many bills and my courses for school are so expensive

hopefully sometime this year i'll have enough cash for the project..taxes are coming soon..let's see how much i get back

as for the cold weather shifting problem, it's true. my shifter feels very stiff/hard to move around when it gets cold..just let her warm up and she'll be good to go..i usually wait until the rpm goes down and gets to normal idle before i even reverse out of my driveway..

hope this helps!

I might try it, not sure. Seems everyone loves that to. I let the car warm up about 5 minutes this morning and it was notchy but no lock outs. What surprised me was the notchyness wasn't going into 2nd it was coming out of 1st.

Felt like it was poping out when I went to shift, like it was weird, almost like the clutch wasnt all the way engaged

Mine feels exactly like that when I shift from 1st to 2nd. It feels like it just pops out right? I don't know what it is but my transmission is SCREWED

Garrett drove it around and trust me, the grinding from 1st to 2nd is EPIC

I ran straight Redline MT90 one winter and the shifter would pop out of first into second. That was when the car only had 25k on it. Since switching to BG I have not had it pop once. I have never tried the Redline Cocktail but love Redline products. I just wouldn't run straight MT-90 in cold weather. It is awesome in the summer though. You can't go wrong with either BG or Redline.

Many of the original RA owners swore by BG but it seems it as not used as much any more. The cheapest place to BG is from Buschur racing. My local BG distributor couldn't match their price and it was on my doorstep in 2 days. Great company to deal with.

I'd like to use bg synchro shift 2 but bushcur doesn't say what weight it is or anything, and I haven't heard much about it in the cold except from a couple people.
I really want what I got in now to work fine I'm just not thinking it's ever gonna. Just now leaving school I got locked out of 2nd gear again for about 5 minutes. It just wouldn't go I have no clue why but after about 5 minutes it would go in not smooth but it would. I drove across town and on the way back it was shifting really good after it warmed up. I guess I need something better suited for cold weather. Still wasting what's in the transmission now though and I hate that.
Think if I get a clean oil pan I can recycle what's in the transmission right now for summer?

if it pops out of gear you may need to replace the detent, or the shift rail...

and yes your second gear damage is pretty extensive...i can vouch for that
