Piggyback dillema

Ok guys i recently purchased a rpw stage 2 cam and cam gear plus clutch, flywheel and rad..... I thought i could have tuned the stock ecu but my mechanic said that i need some sort of a piggyback.....do any of you guys have any experience with a familiar setup and could help me out on which piggyback to buy?

buy UVtune and a Tactrix cable, and let your mechanic do the tuning..too easy, it costs a bit more, but has way more features/capability...it will serve you well, well into the future...I hear the piggy back setup is finicky, never bothered with it. I believed strongly in the work hackish was doing, and invested in it some time ago, and have since had him tune a turbo setup, and have had zero problems in over 2 years.

also keep yours eyes out for high compression head gaskets, maybe some pistons

nother edit, you should check out shannonville some time

I thought i couldve tuned the stock ecu so thats why i didnt bother with anything..... I dont want to spend too much on any ecu add ons so i figured the rrm piggy was the best bet .... I wish i could tune my car by hackish but i dont have the time to send it out to different ppl cuz i got skool soon.... If i was going boost i wouldve definetly....i might do the gaskets and the listons next summer i spent too much now loll, plus im not just plugging in the rrm im gonna do a custom tune on it at the dyno,do you think it should be good enough for now?

UVtune is pretty much the only way to tune the stock ECU.

does the piggy back manage timing? or just fuel?

I don't think the piggy can do much for timing. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's why RRM has a separate timing box.

Dirty i have to say if your wanting any sort of real tune and not an ECU interference module (which is what the piggy back is) You should try to get the hackish reflash. I think they have a setup now that if you pay a $250 core charge. They will send you an ecu with the tune then you send your stock one back and get your $250 back. So your car doesn't have to be down for any length of time. I think... But UVtune is the most reliable way to modify the tune for our car. Not to mention the features it adds! I want the two step so bad.... Lol

I think he may have increased to $300 for the tune, and I believe it gives you access to UVTune then . He does a core charge if you can't send your own ECU in (which is what I did way back when). That was $250.

And two step is always fun A little off topic here...but I hadn't used it in a long time and I was showing my cousin from Maine how to launch with two-step. I sucked when I launched, but She nailed it on her first try.

Im pretty sure you can manageanything on the piggy thats why it comes with the software or you can just plug and play....i think that core charge thing is the best idea last thing i need is my car in my garage for a month
