The Official Ralliart NOOB Thread
Cool. Thanks folks. I will keep all updated if/when I find out.
So I am about to order this and see if it fits...http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-MI...1#ht_606wt_952
I can't find a picture of the harness, maybe I just don't know where to look, but we'll see once it gets here.

two questions. 1. i saw a fujita cai on auto jcwhitney that says it will fit the ralliart. is that correct? 2. can you get headers off another mitsubishi with less restrictive flow without replacing the downpipe?
Hey RalliartN, Your sig says you have the whiteline sway bar...how is it? Did it come with hardware? Do you know anything about the addco sway bar?
Also, does anyone know if the Megan H-Brace is worth spending 50 bucks on?

I do not have an h-brace, I think there is a review or two already posted if you search.
where do you guys stand on underdrive pulleys? they seem like a good way to add hp and its not too expensive. would an evo 8 pulley wheel with a smaller belt work just as well as the pulley made for our car?
Hi folks,
I have paged through the last 35 pages and tried to retain some of the info. Thanks to everyone that contributed, I have a lot more reading to do.
I have had my 2004 RA Sportback for 2 years now and I'm very happy with it. It's practical and fun to drive. I had the 60k service done last year, according to the book and now it's at 63k. I would like to do some upgrades to the car as a fun little project. It's my daily driver so I need to be able to use this car everyday while I upgrade it. I would would like to keep the upgrades simple as I'm not that handy
I would like to buy parts generally one or two at a time and spread this out for financial reasons.
My goals are to make the engine more efficient, better gas mileage and some more power would be great. I enjoy the handling but I don't want the ride to get any harder (I'm getting old). Brakes seem strong.
One thing I didn't have done at the 60k service was a transmission flush, should I use Royal Purple Syncromesh? (I'll probably take it to my mechanic for that)
From what I've read the following may be good for me; a SRI as my car is an auto, the RRM piggy back.
What would you recommend as an upgrade path?

don't get an SRI, they suck...hot air, lol
cold air intake, or RalliartN's intake mod...
yes, synchromesh gear oils are for manuals...
leaner AFR and timing advance will give you more power...then shave weight and load on the motor, lighter crank pulley, lighter wheels etc...and leave the suspension stock if you like the soft ride, but get a larger rear sway bar at the very least, the whiteline bar is really good, and quite a bit cheaper than the progress bar...but whatever means you use to tune it will be fine, i just wouldn't trust a piggyback with a turbo.

Otter warned in an earlier post that cold air intakes are susceptible to picking up water especially if we live in a wet area. I live in Cleveland and it's reasonably wet year round with snow/melting snow in Winter and Summer is our rainy season. So maybe RalliartN's intake mod would be better for me.
BLKRalliArt04 gave us insight into a few common upgrades to perform. I am not sure if I will be able to do this myself. Does it require a lot of specialized tools? Also, does it have any negative effects on the vehicle?
"3) Underdrive Pulley Kit (UDP): A good mod for the money. “A lightweight crank pulley that is under-driven to release more power in unsprung weight from the engine. It results in an under-drive of around 25%, which frees up power.” (Road Race Motorsports, www.roadracemotorsports.com )
*Installation Difficulty – 3.5
*Est. Power Produced – 6 to 7whp
4) Piggyback ECU – As far as power goes, a piggyback ecu is one of the best mods you can do. The RRM piggyback does most of its work in the upper RPM range"
The rear sway bar will help with the understeer and not compromise the ride, good ideas, please keep them coming!

for your goals in order, i would do:
1. urethane mounts, front and back...
2. Nick's (RalliartN) intake mod
3. rear sway bar
4. piggy back or reflash (tune)
the UDP i don't think has a very good HP per dollar, a lot of the guys here swear by it, but i would need to see before and after dyno sheets to believe it's worth the price...
