RRM Axel Back or Custom Cat Back?

Yes I know you have to be careful with the muffler choice. I have an inexpensive Ebay muffler and if my girl doen't like it I will make her buy a different one. I plan on getting it done in the spring after snow/salt is gone and putting the stock crap back on for the winter. I still need to get a resonator so gains wont be as much, although we want to be ready for teh turbo kit I will get around to making...someday!

Wow, I'm glad you researched it that far. I called them and they told me the gains without a CAI. Although it does look my TRQ # is low. Although after looking at this a short ram may be good for like 3hp out of that. So this proves the catback is still worth the extra money. There are gains to be had.
Also a header for the Ralliart probably will take some time to produce because there are not a lot of gains to be had. The stock header is very good. There was a guy "making" a header for the RA but excuses are his only answer, I doubt it will ever come out...at least very soon.
The most gains to be had are in the downpipe/cat area. This has already been shown from the RRM cat delete DP. Very nice sizeable improvement! Its not that I'm against buying an already made product, but when you can go to most exhaust shops bringing your own muffler they will custom make you a catback exhaust for less than the RRM costs. With better gains and leaving with the feeling you have really made an upgrade to your car, not just spending 20 minutes and more money to bolt up an axle back exhaust.
I am NOT knocking on the RRM/UR product, although people seem to forget sometimes that exhaust is very very simple. To extract the right amount of performance on a NA requires some backpressure, but more gains can be had rather than just adding an AB. Now some people do it for the looks...and thats fine too, although the cost of muffler and a nice tip could set you back about $100, and to have it put on maybe another $50 -$100. If you don't have the time to screw around then pay the money for it already done for you, otherwise, make it your own. By all means if you modify your RA it is cool, but everyone always love to hear about a custom job.

Well said...on any NA car a exhaust wont yeild more gains the a CAI or SRI will.
from what i have seen...the RRM axle back is a bit expensive...custom can save you about $100 on an axle, and for the price of the RRM axle back you could prolly get a full custom exhaust with a good muffler(Buddy Club, HKS, Apexi, ect).
if your going to spend the money might as well spend it well and do it right

also one thing i dont see on here enough if DYNO numbers! Venders always give there numbers but sometime there are not real world #...for example Injens CAI for the RA they are basically the same as the RSX Type-S...18HP gains. you dont really get 18HP gains maybe around there but not seriously 18HP.
if people would dyno there RAs it would help others see what gains they would really get and help them decide on a product. or it might discourage people from buying a product
venders always lie, or atleast exaggerate
