Importance of Tranny service at 30K?

I'm coming up on 30,000 miles (already!), and saw that Mitsu recommends a tranny flush/service at that point. I've heard some say that it should be done, while others have said not to worry about it. What does everyone think on here?

I put 67K on my old car, never touched the tranny fluid. Not to say that that was good, but just speaking from experience.

i omit stuff like rotating tires and such, but if the manual says do a flush, i would rather spend the money and do a flush than call the dealership for a new tranny a year later.

Do you have a stickshift? If so, replacing the tranny fluid is easier than changing your oil. And you can get some nice synth Mobil 1 or RedLine in there and be a happier, more well-adjusted shifter.

Or you have an automatic, and should probably just go get it flushed. As for going 60,000 miles without doing it... yes, you can. But you don't have to. And if you want the shifting to be smooth, then you won't want to. And if you want the transmission to still be in good shape after 200,000 miles, you better not.

There's a how-to on changing the manual tranny fluid in the Lancer forums. I did it at 1000 miles (wanted to run a better fluid) and it's just as fast as changing the oil.

I replace my trans fluid every 15K. Small investment to pay rather than dealing with the dealer for a blown tranny.

What's a good tranny fliud? I'm planning on changing my oil soon and might as well do the tranny fliud while i'm at it.... Any suggestions? and pricing?
