Ralliart vs WRX (advice)
WTH... lmao, all the evo guys hit the thread up first, let's go in the evo forum and state:
I have a choice between a carrera GT vs. o4 GSR, what should I get?
Anyways, don't forget insurance... I could have easily paid for a evo, wrx, sTI, srt4... but called my insurance company and got quotes on these cars and said **** it, I don't wanna be nearly broke @ the end of the month. Between the 2 alone, wrx... awd, turbo.

Ah insurance... the exact reason My RA is an RA and not an Evo.
...corrupt evil bastards.
No question whatsoever. Get the WRX, it's not made by a failing company so your resale value in the future will be better, much better aftermarket support, and a much better platform for modding in the future. Also the WRX is a safer car, while both score well in the IIHS frontal crash tests, the WRX is MUCH better in side impacts, especially with the side airbags. The WRX is twice the car of the Ralliart.

I don't have any regret about not buying an RA BEACUSE IT WASN'T A FECKING OPTION WHEN I BOUGHT MY '02 IN '02
And for the record, the OZs rims (15# / 15") and suspension setup (i.e. doesn't need modification to use the Tein SS dampers) were reason enough to buy the car. That it has a lip I can attach my splitter to and have 3" of ground clearance is another bonus... and I don't have to look at crappy plastic woodgrain.

As for opinions on the cars, YOU have to decide what you like driving best. When looking for cars at the time that I bought my OZ I did not like the way anything else in it's price range felt on the road. The road vision was also much better out of the Lancer windshield.
Make up your own criteria and purchase based on that. My lancer might not be the fastest thing on the road but I sure as hell do enjoy driving it.
WADAD
As for the mods planed, Don't forget the BOV...
I've driven both and the WRX is a blast, it really is. I almost got one but I just couldn't justify spending almost $1000/mo on a car (total car, gas, ins.)

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!!???!!
If your getting preowned Why don't you try to get a preowned Evo. If you look for a 2003 you can get it aroung $20,000. Depending on your finance rate i know I could work it out around $450 a month.
How is your credit?

The WRX is a better car, period. Its in a different league due to the extensive aftermarket, proven design, great powertrain package, AWD. Cons-its ugly. Thats why I own an Evo and not an STi. Did I mention they're ugly?
To me it's all about insurance. Besides the sticker prices on RA's and WRX's being vastly different, so are the insurance rates. It's because of that reason that I have an RA and not a Evo or WRX, the insurance was way too high, making the cars unaffordable even though I could have comfortably made the car's monthly payments.
