Ralliart vs WRX (advice)
hi
heres all i got to say on this WRX BUT ask yourself these questions
1 can i afford the payment and insurrance on this car plus gas?
2 can i afford the upkeep on a AWD vehicle, and if somthing breaks do you have enough to get it fixed?
3 this is the most important question DO I feel good in it and does it feel good to me.
no one on here can make up your mind for you alls we can do is give advice but when you make your choice you shouldnt regret it later on. I got a RA becuase i wanted to mod somthing that was new on the market and didnt want the EVO i can answer YES to the first 2 questions but i wanted to start out with somthing a little more tamer then an evo, plus the MR was coming out so who knows i might get an EVO in a few years but right now im going to enjoy what i decided to get , good luck with your desion .

We just have to wait for the next generation of Evo to pass our codes... which I hear isnt to far away.
Alright...well I just got back from the guy with the red WRX and I have to say...
f**ing sh*t that is a nice car to drive, especially on icy, snowy roads....
I was flooring it and veering left and right and it was completely under control. I then slammed on the brakes, and steered left and right like a maniac, and again...complete control. Amazing. It was funny...everyone was driving slow, and off a red light, everyone had to crawl to get their cars moving, and I floored it, turned right, the car's rear spun out a bit, I corrected it, and it went straight!
Now I know this might be thinking: "Yeah, so? What is so special about that?" But if you have ever driven in Toronto right after a big snow blizzard, you will KNOW how crazy that is. The roads are just giant sheets of ice. To have this much control is nuts.
Then, when we got back into the guy's underground, heated parking lot, there was a looong stretch of road in front of me (dry road), so I put the clutch in, put it into 2nd, brought the engine up to 3500rpm, popped the clutch and floored it...and man, I wanted to cry tears of joy. My friend, who came with me, said he almost had a heart attack.
That was one hell of a car.
Now, sure, Ive tested these cars before, and Ive seen their performance, but add to this the control over thick, icy snow...and was sold.
And the icing on the cake (no pun intended) is that the red was much darker than in the picture. It actually looks really nice. How many red WRXs do you see around? None. Because everyone THINKS it looks like shyt...haha. But it looks really nice.
PLUS it has a 310watt Alpine sound system, with two huge Alpine amps in the back (he didn't know the specs on them), and a 12" Clarion (yuck) sub in a nice red box. Sounded great. Comes with the deal.
Oh, and the car is 227HP. Nothing is modified. He made a mistake in the advertisment.
So, I really appreciate everyone's advice. Im still a bit new to cars and still figuring things out, and wouldn't have even gone to see this car unless I recieved these responses from this forum. WHEW!
As for why I won't be buying an Evo, this is because Evos don't pass the bumper crash test for 5mph in Canada. It passes the US's 3mph test - the minimum there -, but fails in Canada because of higher crash-test standards (**** anyone?). I heard that Mitsu fixed this and the car is coming to Canada with a big fat $47,000CDN price tag on it. ouch.
And $450 Canadian Dollars is about $365 US Dollars, not $485US. The US dollar is worth more, so you need more Canadian to buy one American Dollar. Not to mention that Im not waiting one whole year to get a car anyways.
The WRX has won, hands down. And I think I just might keep it red, and do some little things here and there (some carbon fibre pieces here and there - hood, canards, and maybe some black mirrors - should balance out the reds everywhere). It already has black side skirts. It might take a bit of design talent to make it work out, but I think it should be fine in the end.
I'll send some pics of it in daylight, if everything works out and I get it, so you all can see the darker red. And I'll post some pics of the modifications when they happen

Congrats on your decision. There's really nothing like driving a car that rocks out of the box! The thing about the WRX (and the Evo) is that it's easy to drive fast and well. It's a very forgiving, yet performance oriented car. There're not many cars like it. Again, congrats!
I think I am just crazy but I like the RA better. It is alittle easier on the bank account. But you cant beat the AWD turbo boxer motor. Those things sound so damn good. Hell I like both so get both

you say the WRX is the same price as the ralliart??? the base price of a wrx is like 24 grand while the RA is 18 grand. If you could get an 05 wrx for the same price as an RA, you would have to be a moron to choose the RA. I mean i LOVE my RA, but i have to draw the line when it comes to cars that are obviously stronger and have more aftermarket potential like the WRX.
