Scion or ralliart
Scion TC or ralliart
Im looking into getting a nicer car and i pretty much have it narrowed down to the scion tc and the ralliart. Im currently leaning towards the TC but i wanted some input before i made a decision that I would regret. Here's a little breakdown to show you how i've been looking at it.
2005 - Scion TC ($16,465) - manual
Pros
- Better looks (In My Oppinion)
- It's made by toyota so good repair record (None of this warranty bull **** like with mitsubishi)
- Company offers things like: Supercharger, Lowering Springs, Performance Suspension, Performance Clutch, Subwoofers, Intake, Exhaust etc. as options so they cant void your warranty for their own equipment.
- Cheaper than Ralliart
- Better looking interior
Cons
- The interior is better looking except for the dash which is a little cheap.
- Much heavier than the ralliart.
- Its a coupe and i had started to like having 4 doors.
- Not to many parts currently out on the market
2005 ralliart ($19,399) - manual
Pros
- I love the Lancer.
- lighter than the tc
- has slightly more power than the TC.
- one of the better if not best performing cars in its class
Cons
-not as good looking
- More expensive
- mitsubishi warranty bull ****
Which of these two cars do you think i should get.

I was just looking at tc's last night.. pretty nice. I think they look better than the ralliarts. 160hp stock with the option of supercharging from the factory so you can put that in with your financing. Greddy is also making a turbo kit for it now. If you're into bodymods then you'll like the fact that they have a widebody kit already out for it now (pics http://www.vvtituning.com/cms_view_article.php?aid=5). I would have went with the tc if i had to do it all over again.. think about it, panaramic sunroof.
I work at a car dealership that sells Scion's. They are pretty decent cars for the money. The tC is my favorite one to drive. It reminds me of my 96 Eclipse I had. Drives the same, handles the same.. almost looks the same. If you are going for the 2 door, the insurance will be double (at least for me it is). I was just at the 2005 Detroit North American International Autoshow and they had a Scion tC there that had a huge turbo on it. I don't know where they got that kit from but I'm sure if you look for it on the net, you will find it. At Toyota, we have TRD (toyota racing development), so they don't care if you modify your car to the extreme.. Mitsubishi will try to cancel out your warranty. At our dealership (LaFontaine Toyota, Dearborn, MI), I drove the Scion tC with the 18'' rim option, 5sp, TRD Exhaust, Injen Intake, Hotchkins Strut Bars, and Premium sound with bazooka sub. There is now an available _aftermarket_ wide-body kit made of all carbon fiber.. makes the car look sweet.
I have a 2003 Lancer OZ Rally, and I love it. There is more room in the back seats/trunk than the Scion tC. The Scion is a tad bit faster than my car by about 1.5 car lengths from 0-60mph.. (we raced my car and a scion at the dealer.. rofl) You can view my mods here https://www.evolutionm.net/registry/...e.php?vid=2921.
I still haven't driven a Ralliart yet, but I'm sure it will probably be wayyyyy better built than the tC. I would be a little leary since this is the first year they have introduced Scion. Even though it has the same engine as the Camry, I wouldn't buy one yet. I still think the car is sweet though.
Go with the Lancer Ralliart, because in the long run you will save big money on the insurance and have a better quality car with more modding options.

The Scion Tc wasn't out when I got my car. So its hard to say. I still would go with my ralliart. I love my car. For me it was a blend of 4 door room plus sport performance. Made both the wife and I happy. Its fast and practical. But by all means, the Tc is a nice car and it might suit your lifestyle better. If you're thinking about the Ralliart, Here's some extra food for thought.
*Lighter
*More Practical
*Best Shifter in a manual car under 20k, from the Evolution
*Evolution GTA seats
*Does have a 10 year warranty
*Probably better financing, I got a good deal on mine
*Super easy to add aftermarket stereo
*If you're looking for a one of a kind car, the Ralliart is unique and fairly rare.
I think the way to go is to test drive them both. Then make your decision. Go with your gut instinct.

the tC was just out when I picked up my Ralliart. I decided against the tC due to the two door setup, less power, really wasn't a price difference ($17k vs $16k). The Mitsu warranty thing shouldn't be an issue. Every manufacturer is going to give you crap about your warranty if you put aftermarket stuff on, that's just the way it is. With the tC, you could get all the TRD stuff, and keep your warranty, but it's going to be a lot more expensive that it would be to get aftermarket kits.
Personally, I think the Ralliart has more power potential, and that was a big point for me. If you're just looking to keep a car stock, it's up to which car feels better for you.

not another tC vs. RA thread... for an overall base... i choose the RA. The tC has some better things than a RA and the RA has some better things than the tC, I just know (stock vs. stock) I can beat one.
My friend has a TC. I just installed some speakers in his car and his car is made so cheap. He has already been in 2 accidents and man that thing cannot take hits. THe seats are very cheap. THey dont feel comfortable at all. There are a lot more parts out for the TC than the RAlliart. I like Toyota but this car is just made to cheap for me.
i'd go for the ralliart man..the TC looks hella bulky and it looks like a hyundai from behind..pound for pound the Ralli///Art will take the TC anyday (stock vs. stock)..the TC looks cheap and feels cheap..i drove my friends TC the other day and when i sat in it..already i felt uncomfortable..my head was almost hitting the roof of the car..the engine is from the toyota camry (the lower end version)..so basically your driving a 2 door Camry...and where's its heritage?? our roots come from the EVO..the TC it doesnt have any..(the camry perhaps?)

Problems solved... F the dealership.... Aftermarket turbos are in the making.... as for the body... so u don't like the body style... well your in luck. We have bodykits for you and those like you. Don't worry about your warrenty i've only took my car to the dealership for recall work... they rest was don't by myself or local shops...
Stock, I think the tC looks better... but a few simple mods makes the Ralliart look just as good (rims, tires, eyelids, evo wing).
Ralliart has 4-doors. That's a BIG plus for me.
Ralliart is faster stock. Plus, RRM makes tons of mods that will put it close to 200HP without forced induction.
Ralliart it tight and probably has the best suspension setup under 20K.
Ralliart shifts like an EVO!!!
Ralliart has a good warranty:
-5yr 60,000 mi bumper to bumper
-10yr 100,000 mi powertrain
With the S&S, Ralliart has sunroof and a decent factory stereo.
Ralliart costs more!
But I supose you get what you pay for. Don't forget this board is BIASED!!!!

they have many forced induction & parts for the tC now & it comes out a nice number too, but too bad that's a 2 doors otherwise I will consider..
