I would lose the 17's if you wanna get serious... what kind of wheels?... overall diameter?... this could make a big difference due to rotating weight and gearing

The 2005 type s has 210hp ( thanks to the Type R IM I believe)

BTW we have 162 HP and 162 TQ not 165.

There is little torque but the vtec makes up for that once the cam profile changes at I think 5300 it screams.

This has been discussed in great detail for the past year in various posts.

In short, since your mods aren't enough to make a big difference, he will start to pull away as soon as he hits third gear.

But, given you get a good launch, you will at least take him off the line. That you can be sure of. Good luck!

iVTEC is nothing like vTEC. For example, o1 Prelude vTEC... i drove one of those, and when vTEC kicks in @5300, it's noticable all over, you can hear the cam change, the exhaust gets louder, and the RPM guages moves quite quicker to the 7.5k redline. Unforunetly the rsx-s iVTEC is nothing like that, it's sorta of like MIVEC... you dont feel a "kick in", but more a smooth power from the engine pull you.

vTEC > iVTEC

Yes your right the older GSR and Type R has a kick. I have driven a modified RSX-S and with an intake you can here the change for sure not as loud as those old school vtec but it's there.

vTEC > iVTEC
RSX(and SI)= I-VTEC, RSX type-s=VTEC
stock for stock your best chance is in the 1/8. the 05 type s supposably puts about 1.5 cars on the older type-s

I-VTEC is both models..... All RSX base and S and SI all have I-VTEC

Base RSX and SI have VTEC that changes from 12 Valve to 16 Valve at 2200 RPM Basically for economy. It's not really even VTEC but Honda used it as a marketing thing

(type S)The " I " stands for VTC or Variable timing Control works on the intake cam to ensure that the power is brought on smooth instead of like the old school vtec.

don't race him from a roll, you will lose! race him from a dig thats your best chance, and if you do lose it won't be by much like one ;maybe two the most.

From a dig, you should lead until the end of second. We throw down a **** load more torque in first gear to the wheels. In second gear, the RSX has the advantage in torque to the wheels, but not by much. From there on, the RSX is going to pull pretty hard.

This statement is from a gearing/torque/weight ratio and under the assumption that both parties have a perfect launch.

It's a drivers race until the end of second.
