Ralliart Vs. 87 Supra

my friend just a 1987 Supra non-turbo and he thinks its all high and mighty. i wanna take him at the track but he is one of those types that if you loose you'll never hear the end of it. i looked to see what the times were for it and i got in between a 15.4 and a 16.0. my fastest is a 15.4 but ive only done that once. im trying to think of anything i can do to make my car just a LITTLE faster before next friday...i dont have any money though..haha if anyone has any input let me know!

Take out your rear seats maybe? Trying lightening your car, take out your spare tire and anything you won't possible need.... wait you've probably already done that haven't you.

I'd say good luck!!. No money doesn't usually equal more power. There is no substitute for good driving though. Best of luck!!!

Talking

do you have a leaf blower? My buddy before taking his old beater civic to the junk yard mounted a leaf blower on the end of the intake pipe. Put some gas in it and start that puppy up. Man you should have see it. It was some funny ****. He said he could feel a tiny bit of emprovement too.

Unless that Supra has work, you should be fine (unless you light up the tires and stand still). Those times are with a really good driver - in 1987. There are 18 years worth of abuse on that car and it has to be way slower now. You should blow him away in the RA. If that fails, get a Vornado !

Take off the fron't half of your air box. It's just 2 bolts. Then use some black electrical tape to keep the filter attatched. Then when you get to the track, take off the filter if you are comfertable with doing that. A 1/4 mile with no filter shouldn't hurt it. Also when you get to the track lower the air pressure in you tires to about 22-25 psi. That sould give you a few extra HP and better grip. It's good to practice before you go too. Good luck.

I would suggest just lowering the tire pressure like the IRH35 said and then just work on your launching skills.

A 18 year old car (unless its been PERFECTLY maintainted) is going to lose some HP with age.

Do you know what kind of condition the car is in (modded at all or stock) or what kinda of rubber it has??

you would be able to beat that supra. how old it is and how new your engine is. plus a non-turbo? supras are heavy as hell so you also got power to weight ratio. i beat early 90's camaros (not SS) but still. dont worry bout it!

Those old supras arent all that heavy. If you really wanted to recognize ANY performance gains, youd have to gut the ENTIRE interior, and i mean EVERYTHING. Take off the door panels, all the seats, (excluding the driver seat, [for the smart ***]), headliner, carpet. And you might recognize a LITTLE.

Take out your filter, it should give you an extra 5-8 hp. Also, open your hood to let the engine cool as much as possible before the run.
