Best shift point..

I know the rev limiter is about 6500 rpm....but I want to know if someone have already make a calculation about the best point to shift...to come on the other gear at good tq but not lost time on high-rev....

By myself it's seems about 5500rpm...for 1-2 2-3...the others gears i prefer go with 6250(approx)

It is right? anyone make different? thanks FranK

I've found that right around 6200 is best.

it depends on your mods

i find that i am faster at 6000 on the 1-2 shift and 5500 on the other gears

i tried the 6250 shifts and it was slower

yea i shift at 6200ish, it works real well because when you shift up it puts you in the perfect point (RPM range).

I'd think between 6k and 6200 is where the power starts doppping off on just about every dyno I've seen (mine included), plus we have close ratio gears so losing the powerband is next to impossible unless you skip a gear! Dyno your car and see exactly where the power drop off is on your car and you'll know exactly where to shift.

Side note: This may be BS and I should know better but, isn't there supposed to be a 3rd profile to mivec that kicks in at 5500? I heard that it opens the intake and exhaust then. I'm asking because it seems strange how our power drops off so dramatically and the a/f starts gettting rich. I'm sorry about hijacking, it's just kicking around in the back of my mind for awhile now and it fell out.
