The reason your truck broke down is it's probably a FORD. I'm not trying to get back at the oil companies. I'm just trying to save you a few dollars, but hey if you want to spend it on nothing go ahead.

I run 90 (ethanol blend) from husky/mohawk. Its the same price as 87 so doesn't hurt my wallet and ethanol blended is supposed to be better for the environment. Plus with that damned kyoto accord, soon all Canadian gas stations will have to sell ethanol blended gas within the next few years anyways so might as well get used to running it. Been using it in cars for 5 years already and never had a problem. My dad runs it in his chipped and supercharged 97 thunderbird (2002 mustang gt engine) and it works great for him too.

Btw, I do not run my car down to empty, that's just what I would do *if* I worried about sediment buildup. I run it down to E on the fuel gauge, which as I've said is very different. I find that running it down to E is a good balance between not getting too close to running out of gas while not having to fill up too often.

I hear ya man. I know there is still 3 gallons left when the light comes on. I was just giving out some knowledge to people.

There's a gas station up the road that has less than 87 octane. When you go there there is like 7 different octanes to choose from.

along the whole "sediment in your gas tank" issue...

isn't that what a fuel filter is for? (not saying you shouldn't run it to E, but still saying it shouldn't kill you once in a while).

and i also want to agree with everyone who understands that anything higher than 87 UNLESS YOUR ENGINE IS TUNED (and no, a CAI and catback is not tuned) won't do a damn bit of good except make you poorer and OPEC richer.

Yeah, that is what a fuel filter is for, by why not error on the side of caution.

in the city of Taylor, Michigan (about 10 miles from me) i wouldnt be suprised to see that. Some guy used to keep horses in his yard there (against city ordinance) and it is refered to as "The kentucky of michigan" no offence to kentuck but "Taylor Tucky" was the most redneck sounded ryme we could think of

oh, i agree with you for the most part, especially considering most people drive it till its bone dry. that's a great way to ruin your fuel pump (or so i've heard and experienced with my old dodge dynasty and my idiot sister who had it before me).
