Denso IKH20 = better MPG!
Denso IKH20 = better MPG!
I changed my spark plugs at 40,000 miles with Denso IKH20's and got 2mpg better! I drive from San Diego to L.A. 3 times a month which is 320 miles. My gas light used to come on at 290 miles, now it doesn't come on until 315 miles!!!
At first I didn't believe it, but I've done the trip 3 times now with the new plugs, and it's consistent. The other day I went 380 miles before I filled my tank, and it took 12.2 gallons!
Supposedly it has something to do with the extra small electrode which gives a more accurate spark with less voltage resulting in better efficiency. Whatever, I just know it seems to work!!!

It's not necessarily the technology in the plug, it's just having new plugs. Our cars run rich in cetain parts of the power band. That fowls up plug fairly easily over the course of time. Congrats on the MPG.

About the comment earlier about better mpg because of new plugs... I've had the same mpg with the stock plugs since the day I turned on the car. The stock plugs looked fine, no signs of running lean or rich. I truely believe it's the plugs.
Wow that sounds like a pretty damn big gain in mileage. Do those trips include any delving into MIVEC territory? If my car had about 10 times the miles as it does now, I would look into those.
