I owuld take the ralliart even though it may never seek as much support Im hoping it does because if the evo can produce so much out of a 4 banger...even if it is an i4 mivec engine now with the IX....why can't there be a way to incorporate that boostage into the bigger 2.4 L mivec RA engine .....SUPPORT IS BOUND TO COME AND IF IT DOES ITLL BE A MONSTER....its lighter than the evo.....a more powerful engine alone jsut the engine....all us RA'S guys need is that one company to run take a risk in the ralliart like say Greddy or HKS pleeease....if that day comes.....evo sales will plummet.....all they have on us is suspension and AWD ....im calling for this mitsubishi.....a AWD Ralliart with that base 2.4 L maybe bump it up to 175-180 hp? then have aftermarket support from great companies such as HKS/Greddy for spoolers and others such as Borla for exhaust systems and AEM making the v.2 intake for ralliarts.......when that day comes all u ra guys comes see my quarter mile times.....haha do all that or PUT A DOWN PAYMENT ON AN 2002 bmw m3 LOL what do yall think sound practical? maybe within the next 2 years? think of all the possibilities
The support is here and has been here for the 4G69, it's just not in great numbers as the 4G63. Fact is, neither greddy or hks is gonna take a chance on the ralliart when the evo is around and the fact there are more people willing to shell out the cash on the evo than the ralliart. Get more ralliart owners with big wallets and the tuning companies will come. I would be far more impress if the evolution engineers did the suspension work and added AWD to the ralliart than boosting it from the factory. You can always boost a car, but you can't always engineer great suspension and awd. Anyways, to answer your last question, get the m3.

Neither was the evo. At the jumpoff, mitsubishi never meant for the 4G63 to make big power, but it does and does it GREAT! Rally cars first and foremost are meant/design for suspension work and handling, taking turns and being planted, jumping dirt ramps and landing briskly. Honestly, when the WRC is getting ready for an upcoming rally event, I doubt on there mind there thinking of squeezing 500hp out over modifying the supension for the upcoming course. The 4G69 isn't made for big power either, but when modify it can make impressive numbers.

- On a side note,

Maybe it's me, but im far more impress with the evo suspension, awd and handling abilities than it's speed or power it makes. Don't get me wrong, they are fast and can be made fast... but any car can be made fast when boosted, turning up the PSI or adding support mods, but it takes years of studying and ethics to get great suspension work coupled to a fantastic awd system. Now that's what's great about the evo.

I think people are oversimplifying the equation which is leading to some problems. While as a general rule it's true that there's "no replacement for displacement", we're not comparing a 1.6 liter honda to like a 5 or 6 liter chevy, its an amazing 0.4 liter difference. When it's that similar you have to look at other things.

I find it funny how this question is a jump from the RA to the MR.. umm hello 17k price discrepency.. what about the standard evo IX or RS.. There is a middle ground you know, and in the evo's case the cheapest is the fastest...best advice is to buy the car you can afford without sacraficing your entire life.. if you cant afford an evo now, then save up money to buy one in a few years.
