Arrow Next Modification - You Help Decide :mitsu:

Hey guys,

So I'm planning to get a new mod for the car and I need some opinions. (06 RA)

Should I get:

1. ROAD/RACE Race Series Header/Downpipe 04-06 OR
2. RRM/ MAGNA FLOW Stainless Catback Exhaust

I currently have the RRM CAI and Pulley installed. What would be the better mod of the two?

Thanks for your responses. Please state as to why you would prefer one mod over the other instead of just listing. Would be great.

Thanks for your time!

ftw!

from what im told you may want some kind of a piggy back before you do the header/downpipe, b/c its doesnt have much gain without it.

The cat-back they have is nice and you may see slight gains on the high-end.
I vote cat-back.

Header downpipe........ exhaust after that. There is a big kink in the stock downpipe.

I think you should stick to the old rule of thumb and work you way from he ends inward to the engine, so do the catback. Plus it will give you the aural satisfaction of hearing your power, as well as making the back of the car look better, and adding power.

First I would have to say, Ask yourself if you plaining on staying N/A or going with F/I. Ither way you will need a bigger exhuast with other mods and since you got a CAI I personally would go with the exhuast first. There header seems to make our cars sound a little louder also. If you are planing on going N/A then after exhuast get the downpipe, but if you are plaining on going with F/I then getting the header would be a waste off time and money IMPO. I could easily get those items but I am going with F/I sooo I will just save money and get one off 2 kits out. Exhuast I say and then work your way back.

cat back will give you sound only..... get the piggyback and tune it with your mods

it will be a better investment !

And you already have header 4-2 on the RA... leave that alone

maybe intake manifold port and polish and overbored TB... maybe you'll get enough flow after that to need a catback

So it seems here that the piggy seems to be the better option of the two which were listed. lol

Im planning on going N/A. Does anyone know which one will deliver more power? Catback exhaust system or header + downpipe? Does anyone even know how much hp each gains?

Also, for the piggy just a few questions.

1. Is it plug and play?
2. Do I need to goto a shop and get it tuned?
3. How much extra HP are we looking at with the PB?

Piggyback sounds good, but just want to be sure before I purchase. PB delivers high end power?

Cheers guys!

You don't have to go to a shop to have it tuned but for best results it's recommended. Don't know how much the PB gives for peak HP but i know it evens out the powerband, gives you a much smoother power curve.

1. not completly.... splice and play
2. yes unless you are tuning it by yourself
3. how knows... depends on the mods you have and how you tune it...

I always thought the RRM PB was P&P...

RPW is P&P...

Hmm, I don't know....I just want the one with the most gains... and I'm going N/A...

I think header+downpipe is good, but I guess so will an exhaust and then so will the PB.... for goodness sakes... I should've just made a poll.

\lol

I havent seen a review on the RPW kit, you could try it out.

RRM's comes pretuned so it will come out of the box helping you, but obviously they cant give you the exact best tune for your car without tuning it in your car.

I didnt dyno it but i'd say 10hp seems fair for what i got out of it. and the whole curve smoothed out.

Dyno tuning it may only get you 3-5hp. which in my case wasnt worth it at the time. but if you start modding the car alot (header/manifold etc.) then get it tuned to get the most of your mods.

The install isnt difficult if you can solder and splice. They do provide great step by step, and if followed you're fine.

Some very very important about the piggyback that always seems to be left out, it's not a mod designed to gain you peak HP!!! So don't judge your decision on what the peak gains are. To understand what the piggyback does, you need to see a dyno chart of a Ralliart before and after the piggyback. It increases and smoothes out power throughout the RPM range.
