Do you think I should go 2 or 2.25?

I won't go 2.5 or larger..
If your exhaust shop is say for you to go 2" then he has absolutely no idea at all is trying to rip you a new one... reason why is that I think you will find that as a stock one you already have a 2" pipe... I wonder if he realises that the car is a 2.4lt not a 2lt that he most likely sees a lot of...

If you are planning on staying N.A then you would be best off having a 21/2" press bent if you want to go all out on N.A then get it mandrel bent if you are wanting to go turbo then a either 3" press bent or mandrel bent depending then on how much hp and how much of a race car you want

As for mufflers I would deffinately go for the Lukey Ultra flow as it is a really nice sounding not tinny and crappy I have never used the Magna flow so I can't comment on that one

well again you would be wanting to have the exhaust and the muffler the same size - as soon as you start down sizing you immediately cause a restriction so if your exhaust piping is 21/2" wide then you muffler should also be 21/2" wide and the muffler should also be of a internal design were it is almost straight thru - should have a very slight kink in it to help reduce noise level but still very good flow- straight thru will give good flow but noise level will increase this is why I went for the Lukey Ultra Flow

Okay I'll get a 2.5" piping with 2.5" muffler? But 2.5" muffler isn't that too big for a N/A car?

Im in Sydney.

Yep I'll notify you. If I get lukey or magnaflow, it will be both the same brand, don't want to mix brands really.

I'll get 2.5". Take it from there.

So today I went to the exhaust shop and they said to stick with the stock piping and just change the muffler only. He said the stock will keep the low end - mid end and driveability on the car would be at its best if I stuck with the stock exhaust piping.

He said 2.25" and even 2.5" was too big for the car. He said it would not be worth it as alot of low end power will be lost and the top end power will be very very minimal. On the other hand he said that it would be much better to just change the muffler to free up some hp. (btw this guy is very respectable in Sydney). He said "You know, if you want 2.5, I can do it no problem, but I'm telling you now, if I do it for you, you'll be wasting your money *shows hand gesture of ripping up money*) He said most exhaust shops just want money but I don't care about that, I care about whats best for the customer. Then he went on to say that if you want it, I can do it but I'm telling you your wasting your money.

For some reason, when he was testing the magnaflow exhausts/ xforce etc... the sound was very raspy (wet fart in a tin shed - lol) and it was not good at all. He said its possible the extractors could be causing the raspy sound..

We tried twin loop xforces, canon magnaflows and always raspy..

help???

personally i don't think 2.25 or 2.5 inch will give you that much difference compared to the stock exhaust, i went w/ the 3 inch. plus it's louder

Thats true, and yeah, it would be much much louder. Then again, you drive an Evo, so I guess 3" is recommended for turbos.

Okay, lets say I go 2.5, now tell me why? I mean, the extractors are 44mm, so should the piping be consistent? Or is it okay to change from 44 mm to a 2 1/4" pipe?

Go 2.5 and lose bottom end. I felt no difference with my pressbent 2.5" (which necks down) vs my 2.5" mandrel in the top end. The bottom end was about the same. If anything the mandrel was better in my case only because it did not leak and has a bit more back pressure when compared to what I was running on my 2.5" pressbent system which was an Ebay special muffler.
