I haven't been sure if I should do a custom cat- or axleback exhaust, or even just a muffler welded onto my stock piping, and this one really made me wonder. Based on the more recent threads, I have seen people say there is no difference in stock piping to custom 2.25". But after reading this, I am now curious as to if it is better get custom piping done or not.

Would the fact that I have a M/T make difference in getting a 2.25 or 2.5"? I ask this because those in this thread kept saying since he has auto, 2.25" would be the best.

On that note, I think that I have pretty much decided that if I were to do a custom job, 2.25" would be my choice over 2.5" based mainly on this...

Now I still have more questions. If I were to get a muffler with a 2.25 inlet, could it be welded onto my stock piping even since it's 2.125"?

Would there be a, if any, noticable difference between the 2.125 and a 2.25 cat- and/or axleback?

Is a catback even necessary, or would an axleback be sufficient (not likely to go turbo ).

Are both RRM's exhaust 2.25 piping?

I do understand that I would "lose low-end, gain high-end" as the pipe gets larger, and larger likely would mean a little louder too.

I'm sorry if these questions are noob-ish, and if you want to throw insults, can you at least throw some information my way too?

Any and all opinions appreciated.

Anyone? I really want to get this right before I commit to anything.
