Transmission Cooler

Does anybody know what this does?

It does say "dramatically cools down transmission fluid tempatures, extending longevity and reducing flaring and other transmission slippage problems. Many Mitsubishi models do not run a transmission oil cooler and as such, respond extermely well to the fitment of these units."

Does anybody know if the 06 models have this? Also, what are the advantages of having transmission fluids dramtically cooled down? Does it do anything performance wise?

That's for A/T only. There's no fluid pump in an M/T, except for the gear oil getting moved around by the meshing of the gears.

In an A/T, heat is a killer. If you can get the trans fluid warm but not hot, that's when you'll get the best performance and longest life out of it.

Trans cooler's are beneficial as Myszkewicz said, my dad installed a larger trans cooler on one of his old pick-up trucks and the towing performance of the truck was greatly increased.

If you're auto, that's definitely a great upgrade to do. And in addition, if you go turbo an oil cooler is also a great investment...

Question here, it does'nt necesarily have to be for tranny fluid, i mean, can it be used as an motor oil cooler? Cause if so, it is worth it, especially if we're on MIVEC

You could, but it'd probably be easier to just buy an oil cooler that comes with the fittings to connect to the filter mount.

Most cars and I would be quite sure this includes the RA, has a sort of transmission cooler in the radiator. Granted it's not very good, but it does do something. Only for autos of course.
