so, i was putting in subs the other day and had to remove the back part of the airbox. and well there was some like .. clothy insolation looking stuff in there and my friend said it was just to reduce noise. so i got rid of it. and either its in my head or i gained more tq out if it. is this right or am i just imagining things
it could have been a noise reducer OR a fire retardent or maybe something else. where was it exactly? I can't say for sure because i have never seen this stuff in my car before. be careful, it is not safe to take things out of a car without knowing what they do!
My stock intake didn't have anything like that in it. There was something like that in my old Eclipse, though, so it's possible that your car had it.
And what does the airbox have to do with installing subs?

I ran my power cable between the inner and outer fender, then through a big grommet from the wheel well area into the cabin near the fusebox. Nice and neat, there's only about 10 inches of cable visible, plus the fuse holder mounted on the battery tie-down.
+1 for the pic.
