This thing? BTW sorry about the size, I didn't feel like making it smaller This is my 04 but my 06 has the same thing. I doubt removing that thing will do anything, though it's probably not doing anything by being there either.

Yea my 06 has that, when I was washing my car one time I noticed it and tried pulling it off, its on there alot better than it looks, so I just left it for the time being and have been to lazy to go remove it.

no it wasnt that. from the picture. it was behind the airfilter... like between the square filter and the .. windshield. it was just a wad of this clothy ****.
and the reason we removed the airbox was to have more room to drill through the fire wall for the power cable. you see the first rubber tubing for the intake. we drilled the whole behind that. at first we were going to drill from the inside out but my friend almost hit the.. im not good with mechanical stuff...so the circle thing on the right side right behind the steering wheel. so we decided to drill from the engine bay to the inside of the car. so we had to remove the intake to have room to drill

Well, there shouldn't be anything in the intake tube after the air filter, so whatever you pulled out probably wasn't supposed to be there in the first place.

no because it was more of a wad of cotton type of texture. only it was grey and had other colors in it. i wish i kept it to get a picture. my friend said that he was 99.9% sure that itwas just to reduce noise.

i'm pretty **** about things, so when i put the stock air intake back on i didnt have any insolation in the box to install. not sure where that came from but on my 04 theres none. dont worry about it, no power to be had.
