so i was quoted 900 for the power steering pump and this other thing that connects to the suspenion not sure the name.. is that really how much it cost? the shop is charging me 1230 for the power steering and the install.. any input?

 

I'd say they're charging more than they need to, even if they're replacing both tie rod ends. I'm sure they can get the parts cheaper than I can, so they're charging you more than $600 just for labor.

 

What went wrong? Isn't you're car under warranty still?

 

Contact this guy to see if he still has a power steering pump.

 

Sounds about right, the stealership got me for $1040.79 for a condenser and are trying to tell me that they found a "new" problems with a hose on the high pressure side of the system. they want $270 for that.

 

well they quoted me for the power steering and a racketeer? or something of that sort.. going to the dealership tomorrow..

 

The "racketeer" is probably the steering rack, expensive &%^%* as well.

 

If it's the steering rack, they're either putting in used parts or that's a screaming deal.
That on top of the $530 power steering pump puts the price around $1350 just for parts. I don't think that's it.

 

they were replacing the power steering pump and rack and pinion.. which the rack and pinion alone is 1200 and the power steering pump is 600..

 

The dealership just ordered a new pump and hoses for my wrecked RA. Its like $720 for the pump and around $150 for the hoses and lines.
