tried, but no cigar

Well I noticed that no one had done a DIY tiebar and it ''seemed'' easy enough, I went to my job, a local hardware store. I picked up a piece of angle iron ...the pic can say the rest...well it doesn't fit the holes are dead on , it's the depth the bolts are countersunk , so the bar being flat doesn't leave enough exposed thread to put the nut on . I guess I could get some longer bolts but it's not something I would want to replace , so this about somes it up I guess you'll be hearing from me RRM .

It's actually been successfully done this way by one member. However, it's not adjustable, so every time you got an alignment you'd potentially have to make a new one. The adjustable one from RRM isn't expensive, anyways.

Thank you. Considering the machined cup alone cost us $15 each. It is proper bar that everyone should get.

I'd definitely like to buy one.. except i can't afford it. Though since i have access to a machine shop and i can have metals hardened i might try to make an adjustable one myself. It would probably look like shiet compared to RRM's which i've seen before and is definitely a nice find, but i can't afford it and i'm sure the shop has some extra A01 lying around.. I'm assuming that piece is strictly steel right? Say.. 30-40 Rockwell?
