Paint Question

Just got my bumper painted a couple weeks ago and they said i couldnt wax or detail it. They said to wait 90 days but my car is dirty and i want to get it fully detailed. How long do you think i should wait before i touch it.

you can def. wash anytime but dont wax for 30 days or so to let the solvents breath out of the paint! Jus be gentle when you wash it and dont use a brush on it or anything like that just a nice clean wash mit!

Yes. Regular washing/drying is fine. Problem with wax is that it seals the paint and keeps it from breathing. You want to wait until the paint is fully cured before you do that.

without waxing you can wash your car after a week, my girlfriend just had her entire car painted and i washed it this past weekend with no problems.

yes you can also use an absorber to dry it. Just no wax for atleast 30 days!

im with this guy right here i also paint.

i usually paint let cure for a day or two color sand buff glaze and was all on the same day and never had an issue with it and ive painted allot of vehicles/parts. And especially washing i mean come on every body shop washes the whole car before it is picked up.
The reason behind the 30days is after the 30days there usually not held responsible for the paint job after words if they tell you to not touch it for 30days there in the clear if somthing happends to it

it applies to SOME PPG paints also. but still wait at least 30 days to wax it. I've seen a lot of cars waxed before the paint cured, and all the clears have peeled or seperated within 2 years.
