Gear Changing - Grinding Issues.
Hmmm... mine was doing something like that right before my clutch master cylinder went out. I'd prob do the following:
1. check for leaks at clutch master cylinder (small box right against firewall)
2. check clutch engagement and adjust if it's grabbing too close to floor
3. change tranny fluid with GM Synchromesh (Pennzoil Synchromesh)

+1 on the tranny fluid, BTW. It will help, even if it's not your only problem. BG, GM, or Royal Purple. don't use any regular brand that you can buy at autozone, go to a GM dealer for the GM synchromesh (unless this is available at autozone, I haven't seen it) BG synchromesh and Royal Purple can be had online for reasonable costs. your local tuner may have it as well as some Redline oils. I haven't used these, but other car guys use it(honda guys to name one group)
Rang my friend, and he said get Redline oils, the best for your tranny. All Honda guys use them, may be different for your Mitsubishi but Redline ftw!
Going to go find me some Redline! How many litres does our tranny need?

3 quarts, dunno about litres
you only fill it up until it starts coming out the hole, it's actually less than 3 IIRC.
Redline, BG, GM, and RP are all on par with each other, from what I have researched. never heard of anyone using the redline in our tranny, you'll have to post up!
mobil1 = teh suck, btw.

I'm running Quaker State synchromesh and have been for about a month and it seems to be working flawlessly. I'm actually positive that the quaker state is exactly the same as the pennzoil as they are the same company. Anyways, I had alot of trouble finding the pennzoil but the quaker state was readily available at most of the places i went to.
Not to derail the thread but is it difficult to change clutches in these? Do you have to yank the tranny?
