Picked up my car at lunchtime!!! Feels so wierd to drive! Im not sure if it's because
A) I got used to a Hyundai Excel (girlfriends car) OR
B) clutch / gearbox / brakes have fresh fluid & pedals have all been adjusted. Gearbox feels like it has a short shift kit in it compared to driving the excel, and feels somewhat 'tighter' when changing gears than it did before. Brakes feel super sensitive, and clutch feels softer to press compared to what it used to be like. Will be odd driving it home from work for the first time in nearlly 2 weeks!

Dude i'm very happy Mits stood behind their warranty. That is fantastic news. Hopefully they have learned their lessons from Japan, and have changed their tune when it comes to warranty claims. You can post on these boards again now that you have your car back .

Warranty claim hasn't been submitted yet ... but ive got my car back. Dealer will keep me informed, and if the worst happens, he'll support me in our fight to get it covered so I nor the dealer have to pay,

I drove it 40kms home from work before. It's honestly like driving a different car. GEarbox / Clutch all feels better than it ever has, which makes me think it's probably been defective since first owning it, gradually getting worse without me realising until that little bit more of 'enthusiastic driving' pushed the clutch assy over the edge.

All's well that ends well i hope!

the dealer let you take the car without submitting the claim? sounds like you got yourself some warranty work pal, I wouldn't even worry about what mitsu says at this point

jeeze... my dealer wouldn't cover ish.. haha

I'm replacing my clutch with a Works stage 1 setup soon, found a local shop that's really good to do it for a little more than 300$ and on top of that though i might need to replace some syncho's.

Don't forget to break your clutch in! And holy hell I've never seen a cracked flywheel on a stock setup before...

being smooth on your clutch and avoiding heating it up is a good start

Just don't do anything harsh on it.. be gentle.. its like a baby, gotta wait for it to grow up a bit before you can start letting it into the real world...

But yea I'm waiting for my clutch to come in the mail, but I'll be babying it for a good 500 miles just to be on the safe side. AKA Shifting before 3, minimal downshifting and driving it hard. Granny shifting gears nice and slow. Hopefully the shop i'm taking it to can get the clutch catch point somewhat near the old one since i love having it catch up high...

Good luck with your clutch, be good to it and it'll last a good while.

I don't see how that can happen if it wasn't a defect. Anyone ever seen something like that happen even to a heavily abused clutch?

I would be pissed if my dealer didn't honor the warranty. Sure it's a "wear" item, but I've never seen "wear" include a huge ****ing crack!
