Cruise control relocation for Evo wheel installed, but not yet working!

Hey guys, a little project on the side for me has been installing Cruise Control.

My car was originally a 1.6 without cruise control, but after the 2.4 engine swap, I realised it would be possible to add that in as the ECM has the plug (wires) for it. Only one problem was that I have the momo evo wheel. But not so quick to give up:

Now the cruise control plug is C-108. Those of you who followed my engine swap might remember this was the plug we stressed about wondering what it plugs into. Turns out every wire on there is for cruise control. Two for the lever, one for the brake pedal cancel switch, one for the clutch cancel switch and one for the cruise indicator light.

So, we've connected everything up... and it doesnt work! So, I'm not sure why, as it is exactly the same as the stock cruise control system now, except with the lever in the console not the steering wheel.

I guess Im not really asking for help because I doubt anyone would no why the cruise control might not work when connected up.

I have NOT however, connected up the cruise indicator light. Dont know how that would affect it though!

Anyhow - just to show you a good way to keep cruise with the Evo wheel, if only I can figure out why mine doesnt work!

Update - it actually does work! Wired the clutch and stop switch the wrong way! D'oh!

So there you go, cruise control with Evo wheel ... easy!

Interesting placement in the center console there. Good job on figuring out the problem!

Is there a way to fabricate this into a different switch system for a more "show" approach? (instead of installing the controls like you did)
Not cracking on your design, I'm just curious if the cruise control switch can be modified into a completely different switch.

I am sure this wouldn't be too difficult, but your new switch would pretty much have to already be a cruise switch. you need a four way short contact/momentary switch. the switch doesn't actually control anything itself, it just tells the ECU when you are doing something, and has either no voltage or constant voltage any time you aren't using it though I'm not sure which.

you push the button to make it come on, but it's not a toggle button (or my brain is telling me it isn't, I leave it on all the time anyway). you can push the lever three ways, but it centers itself so it is momentary contact as well. you could do this with four buttons on the dash if you wanted to

I would have expected the labels to be facing the driver. But this does make it easier to do the movie stunts where they ask the passenger to take the wheel as the driver jumps to another car. The passenger can now steer, accelerate and coast from the passenger seat.

Yeah, thats quite cool. The labels face the wrong way because my car is RHD, and the cruise lever is meant for LHD, and they dont make one for RHD! I'll do a how to soon!
