Regular lancer cruise control in Evo? Maybe 2g Eclipse CC?

Is it possible to make it work? Or is factory cruise control operated by the ECU?
I noticed on the right side of the steering wheel plastic on the Evo, there is a "door" that could be removed to mount the Mitsu cruise control switch.

If the only parts needed to make the cruise control system work, were the lever, wires, and control unit, I think it would be very possible to mount the switch on the proper side of the steering wheel.

I HATE the idea of aftermarket cruise. Nothing beats the fit and finish of factory parts.

I still fail to see why Mitsubishi won't offer cruise control on the EVO. It makes no sense and saves very little weight without it.

because if you have it, you wont use it.

You have to either go 60 mph or 90 mph.

The turbo boost is not as stable and it's annoying once you go up and down the hills in the interstate and you're car is constantly boosting up and down, being jerky.

I have a cruise control, i don't use it.... ever. About to take it out.

I think its all done within the ECU, so probably not.

Also, if an STI can have cruse control I'm sure mitsu could do it for the EVO.

I'm about to take a drive from Oklahoma to South Carolina, then several drives to Florida from SC and eventually going to Texas courtesy of the military. What type of cruise control do you have?

i dont see how the turbo would effect cruise control. sti has it so do 1.8t audis. if they can have it there is no reason we cant. meanwhile i had it in my last two cars and i never used it and i drive long distances a lot. jsut for me to go home its a few hundred miles and i havent missed cuise control at all yet.

sti's, most 1.8t's have drive by wire... easier for ecu to keep boost and speed constant at different loads...

1.8t's and stis also dont run as much boost. I put an audiovox cc in an evo at work the other day. Ran pretty good, but on bigger hills it did get a little jerky and if you have an aftermarket bov I would highly advise against it. This one did and it had turbo surge like hell.

I dont know if the oem lancer cruise control will work on the evo. But there are tons of aftermerket cruise control systems available. Such as the audiovox with dash mountable controls for under 100.00.

I dont see why you would need it. Does your leg or foot really get tired or something? Maybe if you take cross country trips or something but even for commuting I dont think you'd need it.
