This past weekend I had a good look at an Evo control arm off the car, and Diavlo is right, everything is the same except the material they're made out of. You'd be surprised, despite what Evo owners will tell you, how much the Evos really have in common with the rest of the Lancers.

Do you have a specific reason why you think it won't work, or is it just a hunch?

I figure slapping on a turbo for you will be like opening a book. Too easy.

The regular Lancer's (ES, LS, OZ, Ralliart) wheelbase is 102.4 in. The EVO's wheelbase is 103.3 in. Would you like to know where that 0.9 inch difference lies? That's right... the front lower control arms.

The EVO's front arms actually sit the wheels further forward than the regular Lancer.

If you swap the EVO's front lower control arms into your Lancer... your front wheels will end up hitting the front of your wheelwells.

I will have pics later.

Is it more so the fenders and bumper interfere with the added .9" of wheelbase or that it rubs within the wheelwell itself?

Looks to me like it'd hit every piece of splashguard in there.

Also, are you still using the Lancer front crossmember or did you swap over to the Evo front crossmember? Is the added .9" of wheelbase achieved because the lower control arms or a difference in mounting on the front crossmember?

I don't exactly understand what you're asking...

The added wheelbase will indeed cause the wheel to rub on the front of the fender and the bumper.

Gotcha. I was simply asking if it was rubbing on the fender/front bumper or if you removed the fender and front bumper and it would still be rubbing on the inside of the wheelwell or frame.

So then the Evos have longer fenders from front to back and the front bumper is mounted a bit differently to them.

The front subframes on the Lancer and the EVO are virtually the same. The mounting points are all in the same places and use the same bolts... the only difference between the two is that the EVO subframe is much more reinforced. You can swap the EVO's subframe onto a Lancer. I have done it here:

I see. Did you have a chance to lay the Evo and Lancer front lower control arms on top of one another to compare size and shape? Is the Evo control arm longer to the effect that it gives the wheel base that extra .9"?

We have a plan for all eventualities! I'll fit em to mine - if they cause problems - I'll sell em! If this was a thread about swapping to evo control arms my dreams would probably now be shattered, however I'd like to try them on my car to see what happens. If I really want to use them, I do have a flared arch kit I could use to make them look centered again! We'll see!
